I'm an official election monitor for a Ward of Philadelphia

You can't mail in your ballot for a primary unless you show cause...now often people make up their cause and get away with it, so it's not an absolute...but generally everyone who wants to vote has to get out to the polls tommorow in about 8 hours from now...

it's going to be fucking crazy because of that...and because it's a city of 1.5 million people that's 90% democratic

My fiancee and her other friend (who is also in med school) are voting for Hillary because of the mandates

I'm a pragmatist so I've switched my vote to Obama...a primary until the middle of April helped Obama no doubt in my mind (helped him dodge bitter/wright stuff) but any longer it's more likely than not it will hurt him, people like me and others are just sick of it

So it's time to end it, and May should be the end month

anyway i won't have any stories until after I get back, and i cant promise if they'll be any good

BTW it's not an elected or delegated position so you can't find out who i am through this information

Wow, you switched??

Were you at the Hill-dog rally at the Palestra tonight?

I will make a thread tomorrow complete with numerous pictures comparing the Obama rally vs. the Hillary rally. I'll admit, it was kind of cool to go to both and see the different speeches, presentation, and crowd reactions. Having Hill-dog at the Palestra and tooting the school's horn was pretty cool, but nothing can beat the 35,000+ people on Independence Mall for the Obama rally.

Out of curiosity, which ward? (I already voted in NY, so don't worry, I won't come looking for you)

There are several that comprise the few blocks north of temple, I'm one of them (19th, 11th, 37th, 7th and 43rd)...because of my expertise in election law, im actually on call to have to drive over to any of them if something serious breaks out, and I have a direct contact with the District Attorney's Office but not the Police (The assistant DA would have to call a police unit specifically, I'd have to dial 911 if it was major and I didn't have time to contact my assistant DA)

So yes, the North Philly where everyone gets shot

If I don't post again, I'll be one of the people who got shot breaking up a fight in North Philly between Obama and Clinton supporters, and if you don't think both have guns you're kidding yourself

I saw a black homeless guy going around in his wheelchair chanting "vote for hillary...or you're crazy!" with a hillary posterboard on his lap

Just voted for Barack Obama

I have to say, turnout was pretty damn low all over the ward i was covering (which was 99% black) and people said the early "rush" was a lot less than when fmr. Mayor Street was running (for mayor...)

It really has me thinking Obama made a mistake in not greasing the ward leaders to get out the vote, sure it's corrupt but now you have low turnout because people aren't having their arms twisted to vote

I saw one guy who wasn't on the books, and he got so mad he just ripped up some piece of paper and walked out...he didn't want to talk to anyone...now this is where Obama people are supposed to step in and remind them that they can fill out a provisional ballot, which would probably be counted...but no, they just got up and left...or they didn't show up

Doesn't look good for Obama today, but I heard some poll workers say they think it's going to be an evening explosion...but my shift was 6am-11am so I won't know until the results come in

I took a walk-around this morning to check out the West Philly/campus turnout.....every voting locale was packed in this neck of the woods.

Polls close at 8...the philly area is pretty good but not amazing, expect the suburbs to get out their vote before philly proper, so it might look like a bigger hillary win the beginning...but who knows obama might not even have a big turnout in philly...

Wow! You really switched and vote for Obama. That's surprising. I hope you felt you made the right choice and I agree it is time to end this petty attempt to win over super-delegates by Hillary. If Obama sweeps the next 4 primaries, it's over and if Hillary still stays in the race, someone should get Bill to commit some domestic violence. Kidding, kidding, or am I?
