Exactly where did I try to make it a moral issue? All along I've been saying it's a LEGAL issue. If you want to fight to make prostitution legal and it becomes legal then more power to you. But to after-the-fact say "well the cops shouldn't have been there anyway because it should be legal" is like me getting pulled over and saying "the speed limit should be higher!"

And lastly, apparently prostitution ISN'T a private matter as people are getting killed over it. Making it legal in nevada didn't make the problem go away.

I don't have all the facts so I can't pass judgement on the police, but I do know this...Al might be able to close down a corner grocery store in Harlem, but he and all his followers can't shut down the Big Apple.
Right or wrong, that's the reality.

Sadly, I think Al could pull that off. I wish he could be deported... But that's in a perfect world.

When people are looking for a cause they're easy to control. If it was just him asking for it, who knows. But it's not just him, it's him and a dead guy and his sympathetic wife, and people are pissed at the cops for what they see as an unjust decision. I have no doubt he could get 10,000 people out there because they're pissed.

The subject matter I'm talking about is prostitution, which is involved with this Al Sharpton story. The basis of my entire argument was... If prostitution was legal in the United States, this mess would've never happened. You want me to go on an Al Sharpton hate speech, I can do that too. Your comment adds nothing to the discussion, other than to single me out. Why not engage in debate like 7960 or someone else?

A guy gets killed for weed and your answer: DRUGS SHOULD BE LEGAL!
A guy gets shot for attempting to kill a cop and your answer: PROSTITUTION SHOULD BE LEGAL!

You're trying to place blame on "the system" for what individual PEOPLE are doing. They're breaking the law and you're coming back with "but if that wasn't illegal" as an argument. No shit. If speeding wasn't illegal I wouldn't have gotten a ticket.

My problem is the fact we waste money on stupid things like this, when the cops could be out going after real criminals, not men who rent hookers for pleasure. The men didn't even have connection to a prostitution ring in the first place. They were misidentified and one of the cops heard or think they heard "Go get my gun."

I feel sorry for the officers and the family of the victim that have to go through this because I'm sure the Cops didn't want to kill anyone, but they have to realize they screwed up. They were acquitted and they should be thankful for that. They will have to deal with this backlash for some-time. It's a lose-lose situation for both parties involved over a really stupid law.

real criminals are people who break our laws....last I checked, prostitutes and their johns are breaking our laws. When cops go after them their going after real criminals.

...the Cops didn't want to kill anyone, but they have to realize they screwed up.
They defended themselves from someone who said "get my gun" and then tried to run them down in their car. How is that screwing up?

I agree, go to the bar and have sex, but you'd be surprised how many ugly, no self-confidence, unhappy husbands, GOVERNORS... use prostitution to get their nut off. I understand your argument but if it was a legal practice (which they use "Escort" as the term to cover it up), they probably wouldn't have those kind of problems.

P.S. I don't recommend any man who uses prostitution to get off, pick up a girl off the street because those "crack-heads" probably do have an STD (and a pimp).
But who's to say that those ugly dudes wouldn't give those prostitutes STDs and then the next guy they fuck that day gets the same thing?

All I'm saying is that legalizing it could have major consequences

Obama tries to prevent any violence in the aftermath of the Sean Bell case. Sharpton lets him have it...
SHARPTON RAPS OBAMA - New York Post
SHARPTON RAPS OBAMA

By CHUCK BENNETT and KAVITA MOKHA

April 29, 2008 --

Barack Obama made a call for nonviolence in the aftermath of the Sean Bell verdict - infuriating the Rev. Al Sharpton, who accused the presidential candidate of trying to "grandstand in front of white people," sources told The Post.

During what a source described as a "heated" phone call yesterday, Sharpton told Obama he was disappointed with the Illinois senator's words on Friday, when Obama said "resorting to violence to express displeasure" was "completely unacceptable and counterproductive."

"[Obama] issues this statement and not a single rock had been thrown," said a source. "How does the candidate of change ask people to accept a verdict that is unjust?"

The source said Sharpton had hoped Obama would "side with the Bell family" and not use it as an "opportunity to grandstand in front of white people."

Sharpton is an idiot. Obama is correct, it's not about "siding" with people, it's about not being counterproductive, which Sharpton is completely doing.

Obama just got points in my opinion.

How about these?

- If strip clubs were outlawed completely he would still be alive today.

- If he was a decent person he wouldn't be at a strip club, drunk ON HIS WEDDING DAY, and he would still be alive.

- If cars were illegal he couldn't have tried to run the cops over and he would still be alive.

See, I can make just as stupid arguments as you.

Obama is absolutely right. Sharpton holds a rally at his personal office where people are yelling "Kill the police!" and other things inciting violence.

The rally at Sharpton's office was followed by a 20-block march down Malcolm X Boulevard and then across 125th Street, Harlem's main business thoroughfare, where some bystanders yelled out "Kill the police!"
Obama says, hey let's have a peaceful resolution and Sharpton blasts away at him. If a police officer gets killed over this Sharpton is partially responsible.

Yeah, and Sharpton went down another few as well if that is even possible

I can't believe he'd say he was "disappointed" by calls for nonviolence..

Why does Al Sharpton hate methods used by Dr. King?
