Ron Paul Supporters Shut-Down Neveda GOP Convention

Nev. GOP recesses state convention, angering Paul supporters - Yahoo! News

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Outmaneuvered by raucous Ron Paul supporters, Nevada Republican Party leaders abruptly shut down their state convention and now must resume the event to complete a list of 31 delegates to the GOP national convention.

Outnumbered supporters of expected Republican presidential nominee John McCain faced off Saturday against well-organized Paul supporters. A large share of the more than 1,300 state convention delegates enabled Paul supporters to get a rule change positioning them for more national convention delegate slots than expected.
His message is getting stronger, it's sad that they couldn't have had this kind of support earlier in the GOP Nomination. I hope the people don't stop and the supporters get more out-raged. I'm loving this, McCain is not a true candidate to support when he supports a War that has put us into a recession. And if you don't think the War is the main cause of our upcoming recession, you're foolish and I dare you to challenge me on that statement. [Looks to 7960 with a menacing glare.]

Honestly, I have no clue. I only posted the article because Ron Paul supporters are like termites and that makes me happy. But, that is a good question. When I get off work later, I'll look it up on Google and post it for you once I find it.

The convention was ostensibly adjourned because of time and the inability to process the volume of votes.

Not enough people remained after the announcement to form a quorum. If that had been done, Ron Paul would have every delegate for the state.

As it stands, the party rules were violated. I doubt that this event is without precedent.... but I doubt a convention has been canceled in this manner; with a full house and a clear majority.

I am freakin amazed that this is not front page news.

Forget that in most states, the party has overtly supported one candidate while treating another as if they were in a different party..... This state they actually canceled the freaking convention because the vote didn't go as planned.

Its not like Ron Paul is going to come from behind and get the nomination, so why shut down the convention and play poisonous politics?

After all, Ron Paul has brought a huge mess of true Conservatives out of the woodworks and transfused them into the dying party's blood.

It only makes sense if the goal is to keep the party voters and platforms Non-Conservative.

The R. party is controlled by people who do not share the values of the party line.

Surprisingly I read on RonPaulForums.com that this happened in Texas, Missouri and Louisiana, I'll double check the last one, but the first two are true. Where Ron Paul supporters came out in droves and were shut-out, the TX GOP leader said that he wouldn't let "Paul Supporters high-jack the party".

It sucks that his base is only getting stronger now, but they're smart, they're making a play for all the Romney & Huckabee delegates, plus any that are not pledged. Say if the Ron Paul supporters did snag at least 75% of those delegates, he would prevent McCain from getting the nomination on First Ballot. If you go to Wikipedia site about the Election, the pledged delegate total right now is about 30 under the magic number.

I'm pretty sure they shut-down the convention because they didn't want to lose all the delegates to Ron Paul, could you imagine a whole state of just Ron Paul supporters at the RNC? It'd be a nightmare for them, especially if they don't let Ron Paul have a speaking spot.
