Most people post about all the social issues they care about...this is it for you? Just drugs?

Did you watch the whole clip?

Did you notice that the name of my profile is the same name as the documentary that I'm posting clips from? There's a connection there...

Most don't think about it, but a very strong argument can be made that the drug issue is at the core of almost every other issue facing our country and the world, from local crime and corruption to international trade and the War on Terror. Since the War on Drugs started, the quantity, quality, and general availability in the US has grown exponentially. Opium production has skyrocketed since we went into Afghanistan after 9/11. Billions of dollars go into the prison system for housing a majority of non-violent drug offenders. Most violence in the streets stems from drugs and the "black market." If these drugs were legally regulated, there wouldn't be a black market. Not to mention that all of the money spent on drugs would go to taxes for the public good instead of buying Bentley's and mansions for drug dealers. Obviously, there's a lot more to it than "just drugs." What are my issues? Liberty, social justice, racism, crime, corporate and political corruption, to name a few. I take it you've got issues?

That was exactly my question. Is this it for you? Is everything going to be about drugs? You don't care about any issue besides drugs? You only care about politicians as they discuss their position on drugs? Nothing that doesn't involve drugs is important to you?

Every one of those has a thousand facets that *ISN'T* about drugs....all you care about is the *one* perspective?

Well a lot of those issues relate to the subject of Drugs. But his user-name is American Drug War, I think he just wants to get the subject matter out their for debate. Because I'm sure we have a pretty divided faction of who's for legalization and who's for keeping it illegal.

So regardless of the fact that I already addressed everything there in the previous post, you're gonna keep going with it?

Sure, go with that even though I specifically asked, "Every one of those has a thousand facets that *ISN'T* about drugs....all you care about is the *one* perspective?"

We've all got to get to know each other. I'm just trying to figure out if there's ever going to be anything besides this one topic in any of your threads. Apparently not, so it looks like we won't be seeing much of each other.

I'm looking at it the other way. Drugs is one of a million smaller issues inside each of those topics. If all he cares about is

Liberty as it relates to drugs,
social justice as it relates to drugs,
racism as it relates to drugs,
crime as it relates to drugs,
corporate and political corruption as it relates to drugs,

Then that's a sad, sad life.

I'm sure he cares about other topics, but by looking at his user-name we know what he wants to talk about on the forum. How is that a sad, sad life? You don't know what he discusses or does outside this forum. That's a pretty lame generalization on your part.

I'm promoting a film. Is that hard to figure out? I personally have a lot of other issues that I'm heavily involved with. What's your big fight, starting trouble on internet forums?

The film is as much about our liberties and the current state of our country as it is about "just drugs." Check it out, I'm sure you'll like it.

What "big fight"? Where am I "starting trouble"?

I made a very clear statement when I said "We've all got to get to know each other. I'm just trying to figure out if there's ever going to be anything besides this one topic in any of your threads.".....there's no attack, no fight, no trouble. I've got my answer.

For what it's worth, I stand alongside ADW on this "business". If a person were allowed only one issue to speak out on, I'd be hard pressed to come up with a better choice.

Just after republicans gained control of congress (circa 93'), Newt Gingrich voiced the same kind of stuff that ADW posted here. He only did that once. His spineless desertion of the issue was as though someone had "reeducated" him about stuff to stay away from is he wished to remain "politically healthy".

A few years later, Hillary spoke out against the massive over-prescribing of the psychiatric medicne Riddilan, but like Newt, she only made that mistake once. I'm pretty sure that the anti-drug adventures of Newt and Hill are now wel- known cautionary tales among political wanabees. So don't look for that issue to surface anytime soon.

By the way, as one who generally avoids TV, I had recently been spending time with a cancer patient who has nothing else to do each day, so I got to see where some of that drug money has manifested. I mean commercial after commercial, chemical solutions for every malady on earth, and a few I think were made up just to see how silly they could get and still make dough.

It reminded me of ticket scalpers who moved off the streets outside the stadiums and into plush offices where they did exactly what they had been getting hauled off to the clink for doing, til they wised up.

Keep up the rant, ADW, I think you're doing worthwhile stuff.
