While buying a book on Amazon...

Yesterday I bought my wife a book on Amazon. It came in at $18 and at $25 you get free shipping. So I wanted to see if I could find a book that I wanted on there.

I always get in these situations... Had I not been looking right then, I probably could have thought of a few books I want, but while sitting there I couldn't think of one! So I started browsing... The Law by Bastiat would be a good addition to my bookshelf, but I read it free online.

I was talking to a friend of mine (a libertarian) and was trying to come up with an idea. I came across Capital by Marx and I said "Ooo, maybe I should buy that one."

After thinking about it for a minute, I said "Wait, I don't want to buy a book by Marx... I want to classify it as a need and force everyone else to pitch in to buy it for me."

I thought I was clever and funny

I ended up not getting anything for myself... what books do people on here suggest? If I get in that situation again, I need a place to go for ideas

Man, this tool was made for you
Certain items at Amazon.com qualify for free shipping, but sometimes purchase fall short of the minimum $25 needed to recieve the free shipping. Enter the amount you need to get free shipping in the box above to see a list of products that will get you free shipping.

i actually bought two books on amazon yesterday, usually the used ones for under $1. but i like to go to the local bookstore, browse around, make a list of books i'd like, then check them out online because usually they're much MUCH cheaper.

Yeah I read this one after I read the two Steven Hawking books. Some of it makes my head spin but it's interesting none the less.

Is it all about various "out-there" theories?

I became an Amazon "Prime" member and now almost everything I order is free 2 day shipping. I order enough from there to make it well worth it. I try to buy nothing at stores anymore except groceries. No tax+free shipping = teh win.

I went the other way....I stopped buying from them when they changed their years-long policy of "we'll NEVER sell your info, EVAR!" to "uh, we want some money so we're selling your info even though we said we never would, and we're not giving you the option of opting out, kthxbye."

Saving a butt load of money is a lot more important to me then getting junk mail, 90+% of which my provider blocks, in my inbox.

It talks alot about string theory which I guess is pretty out there. It starts with the basics though, sorta like hawkings books.
