Morning-after pill does not cut British abortion rate: research

LONDON (AFP) - Abortion rates in Britain have gone up, despite the increased availability of the emergency contraceptive morning-after pill.





Well, despite the recent 'victory' for the FDA passed OTC morning-after pill, it may have little affect on abortion rates anyway; certainly that was touted as a reason for making it OTC, wasn't it?

Part of the reason, but another part is unwanted pregnancy/children if the pregnancies are taken to term.

A child growing up in an unloving 'family' or having a mother that can't support it isn't a good situation for a child to be in, so if the woman isn't ready to have that child, she'll have another option besides abortion, adoption, or potentially ruining her and the childs lfie.

So it doesn't decrease abortions? The pill shouldn't be OTC for that reason?

I believe that was one of the reasons that it should be OTC. My reason for it not being OTC was more from the aspect that regular BC isn't OTC due to health risks, etc.; this is not much different.
