PETA is at it again. This time its to take-down the Kentucky Derby.

PETA wants Eight Belles jockey suspended - More Sports - SI.com

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is seeking the suspension of Eight Belles' jockey after the filly had to be euthanized following her second-place finish in the Kentucky Derby on Saturday.

Gabriel Saez was riding Eight Belles when she broke both front ankles while galloping out a quarter of a mile past the wire. She was euthanized on the track.

PETA faxed a letter Sunday to Kentucky's racing authority claiming the filly was "doubtlessly injured before the finish" and asked that Saez be suspended while Eight Belles' death is investigated.
PETA really, really, really bugs me. One of the most hypocritical organizations in America. They really over-step their boundaries. I was really upset with them and the reaction to the Michael Vick pitbull-ring. Because, they PETA themselves euthanize pet dogs 1,200 times on an average a year, if they can't find a home for them.

This YouTube has all 3 parts from Penn & Teller: BULLSH!T They do an incredibly good job exposing the radical nature of PETA.

I liked reading the blog of the guy who intentionally got a job there so he could bring a ham sandwich for lunch on his first day.

He gave the whole hiring process and the questions they asked and all that shit. Then on his first day of work he brought a ham sandwich and something else meat/animal related and went to lunch with the group and whipped out his sandwich. If I remember correctly he didn't finish the work day.

You don't see a difference between electrocuting and drowning dogs who aren't vicious enough, and putting dogs to sleep humanely?

I trained and performed with horses professionally for over a decade. What goes on with racehorses is barbaric.

you guys know that they pump race horses up with steroids right? It's legal in the sport to do it, so all of those horses are juiced up and it's part of the reasons why there are alot of injuries. I don't think we should do away with the sport all together but I think clearly it's an area we have overlooked when it comes to ethical matters. The horses are treated as disposable. They juice them up so that they run faster. When they can't race anymore they usually get put down. If the horse is lucky enough to be a winner it might get to live on as a stuf animal. but that's it.

So what do they want us to do? Shut down horse-racing? Not exactly a tiny business. There's a lot of money to be made there

After this and after Barbaro I think people are going to be looking for more regulation, either self-regulated or if the industry refuses to change, government regulation.

I don't condone what Michael Vick and his friends did to those dogs. I love dogs, but I don't condone what PETA does either. I hate hypocritical stances. I don't care if it's done humanely, they're fuckin' suppose to be PETA and yet they kill more dogs than vets and any other person on the planet.

As for horse-racing, it'll never go away, they are talking about getting rid of the medications since we're the last country to do it. But you're never going to get rid of one of the most riches traditions in American Sports, it's apart of our culture. I don't follow horse-racing but I certainly did watch the Kentucky Derby.

I think it is definitely a cruel and inhumane sport...I guess most people think it's okay because they are not humans.

I'm not sure about most people, but I certainly don't care. I'm only interested sapiant creatures' rights. Animal cruelty for it's own sake is a worry - mostly because of the reasns why people enjoy it.

But as for my entertainment and dinner, I could care less. I don't enjoy animals being hurt, but I don't care either if it happens either.
