| John McCain: Always consistent, except for when he's not I don't see how stuff like this isn't going to be a huge problem for McCain come November If this were anyone else in any other situation, the response would be, "Well he's old and confused." .. and IMO that's still a legitimate argument, is he incapable of keeping up with so much that he's getting it wrong, or is he just simply the huge panderer that I've pointed out many times that he is?

| You know what. That was a amazing video. Quite frankly it was one of the best made political videos I've seen this primary and it wasn't even made by a campaign. It allowed McCain to do all the talking with no "suspicious" toned man speaking between the clips exaggerating what we were seeing. It was just all McCain on individual issues. It got the message across better than any attack ad I've seen against McCain. There were no shady, made up, exaggerated statistics. There was no uncomfortable undertone through that scratchy suspicious voice that makes the viewer feel dirty for watching it like we're reading a supermarket tabloid. The DNC should employ ads like this one. I've attacked most of the DNC ads against McCain thus far, but this was actually good. The DNC could take a few pointers here. | ||||

| I just don't see how people can support him after seeing stuff like this, he's done a complete 180 on so many things that you don't really have any idea what he truly stands for.. what you thought he truly stood for he completely abandoned to pander to people he used to despise.. that shows a tremendous lack of character to me | ||||

Look at how that characterization of Hillary has hurt her.. she's "willing to say whatever she needs to say to get elected", and people don't trust her because of it

| Nothing like addressing the issue of age in advance: In case you missed it: McCain on SNL - 2008 Presidential Campaign Blog - Political Intelligence - Boston.com I remember Reagan in the debate saying "If you won't hold my age against me, I won't hold your youth and inexperience against you." I still don't see how a party (Republican) that hasn't changed its platform since losing the house and senate in 2006, back when real estate was much higher, the dollar was 15% higher and the economy still somewhat strong, can expect victory in Nov. 2008. But that's just me... Fed Up

The Republicans have alot of explaining to do, and that's why they are going to get bumped. Just because the numbers looked good on paper, doesn't mean that they translate into success in real life. I agree with JaJae, that it was a well made video. I hate the scary fake announcer.

| Yes, that was a good video, and the lack of attack ad cliches really help. Devastating start right out of the box. How could he say he didn't wear body armor when he knew people were taking pictures of him wearing body armor? That's just bizarre. And I had heard the story about Lieberman correcting him, but the video makes it look a lot worse than I had imagined it. Finally, the voted for/against the tax cuts was just ice cold, especially the back-to-back "Meet The Press" clips. John McCain better not have anything that even comes close to resembling a "senior moment" from now to November, or it will be beat to death in the media. And it's too bad they didn't show the first SNL sketch McCain was in. He was making a lot of old jokes, something that isn't really apparent in the Weekend Update bit. To be fair, it was a pretty good pre-emptive humor strike, even though Reagan's line was better. But when wondering about McCain supporters, we should remember we're dealing with a voter mentality that is exposed to endless Jerimiah Wright coverage, yet still thinks Obama is Muslim. That's your average McCain supporter in a nutshell, I think. | ||||

When the general election rolls around and it's open to all voters, stuff like Wright, Ayers, Michelle Obama and comments like "clinging to guns and religion" are going to have a LOT of sway in those states. Unless the economy totally tanks between now and november, Obama has a steep hill to climb.
