That's a really good point. If we're going to try young people as adults when they make adult decisions by committing horrible crimes, murder, etc.. the same should be true when they deceive people about their age and then have sex.

It's stupid because you're placing blame on the true victim in this case - the man who was lied to, and completely resolving the girl of any responsibility. She sought out the encounter, and has done it before.. she's not a victim here. She is obviously able to handle the consequences of having sex or she wouldn't have tried to do it again with another older man.

And, 13 is certainly young, but look at her pictures dude. She doesn't look like the 13 I remember girls looking like. She apparently hangs out at bars (see the pic in the original post), and her father admits she's allowed to stay out late without supervision

She made believe she was 19 and divorced, from those 2 pictures posted on the front page, I think she could pass for 19.

You saw the pic... I've seen plenty of mid 20 year olds that looked younger than that. I don't really approve of sleeping around, but it's not my place to legislate my morality on others, so I can't really say "he shouldn't have been sleeping around, that's his problem".

The law is the law, but blindly appealing to the law is always a poor idea - such argument should always be accompanied by common sense as well. Laws are never equally enforced over a period of time, so there is room for common sense, no matter what people say.

It is stupid primarily because it was not reasonable to assume she is under age. When laws are enforced without flexability they defaet the purpose of law.

I'm not sure why it needs a response, but I don't think trying children as adults is generally a good idea.

I don't know much about trying underage kids as adults, but I think it almost never happens for someone as young as 13.

If you're going to put someone in jail he should be able to defend himself against the charge. Part of that is figuring out if the "girl" acted as an adult when she did what she did.
