Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain's ashes stolen

THE music world was In Bloom-in' shock last night after hearing that the ashes of grunge god KURT COBAIN have been PINCHED!

I can also reveal that the wife of the NIRVANA legend, COURTNEY LOVE, is said to be "suicidal" after finding Kurt's remains missing from her Hollywood home.

She had kept the singer's ashes in a pink teddy-bear-shaped bag along with a lock of his hair.

But a couple of weeks ago, she was horrified to discover them gone, along with thousands of pounds worth of clothes and jewellery.

Courtney said: "I can't believe anyone would take Kurt's ashes from me.

"I find it disgusting and right now I'm suicidal.

"If I don't get them back I don't know what I'll do." The sad news will sicken the millions of Cobain and Nirvana fans worldwide.

Kurt, DAVE GROHL and KRIST NOVOSELIC mesmerised the music world in the 90s with hits like In Bloom and Smells Like Teen Spirit.

The band has sold more than 62 million albums worldwide, with classic album Nevermind selling more than ten million copies alone—it's still regarded by critics as one of the greatest albums ever made.

But in 1994, tragedy struck when Kurt killed himself with a shotgun while high on heroin. Some of his ashes were scattered in a Buddhist temple in New York, others were scattered in the Wishkah River near his home in Washington State, and the rest remained with Courtney...until recently, that is.

She said: "They were all I had left of my husband. I used to take them everywhere with me just so I could feel Kurt was still with me.

"Now it feels like I have lost him all over again."

That's really messed up. Who would steal someone's ashes, and why? It has to be some really disturbed fan.. I can't believe there would be a black market for stuff like this..

Is it wrong of me to hope they don't find them for a month or two so she can finally off herself? I've always believed she either killed him, or was in some way involved with his death, so I don't feel terribly bad for her specifically

The only thing she had to do with Kurt's death was being part of the intervention. Kurt didn't want to kick drugs, and he felt isolated, which is what you're supposed to do to folks on drugs, but he didn't take it well. He was suicidal. He tried to OD in Rome, he mentioned suicide in his songs, he even wanted to call In Utero "I Hate Myself And Want To Die." There's even a picture of Kurt with his mouth on the barrel of a rifle. Kurt clearly had angst, as well as chronic stomach pain that plauged him throughout his adult life. Also, shooting up heroin sometimes gets the fibers from the cotton ball into the drug and then into the bloodstream, which reportedly causes even more pain and discomfort. And what would Courtney gain from his death? Rumor has it Kurt wrote her first Hole record, and Billy Corrigan (sp?) of Smashing Pumpkins (and former boyfriend) wrote her second. It's hard not to notice that she hasn't had a hit since. As soon as their daughter is of age, Courtney will try to profit off her as well. Courtney killing Kurt is like killing the goose that lays the gold records.

Shame Kurt's ashes were stolen. I feel bad for Courtney, to be honest.

Maybe I'm the exception, but doesn't it seem weird keeping a dead guy's ashes in your house for some sentimental value? Is this part of some sort of religious belief?

I know this practice is not uncommon, but it's really weird to me...

Keeping the ashes is not the norm but it's not totally unusual. Keeping them in a teddy bear bag is downright fucked up.

It sucks that Cobain died, but the Foo Fighters is such a better band. So some good did come of it.
