So... I'm considering starting a blog...

I've been thinking recently about writing a blog, mostly about politics/current events. It should help with my writing skills and it will help because I'll probably be able to use a lot of what I write for classes over the next two years. Plus apparently if I'm good at it I can get some money outa the deal. But even if nobody reads it and I don't make any money I still think it would help me organize my thoughts and improve my writing skills.

What do you guys think? Do any of you keep blogs? Any advice/tips to start out?

Make sure you have a decent focus for it, otherwise I think you'll get burned out.. there's a lot to write about.. so focus on several core issues that you're most passionate about, and try to build a reader base who are also interested in those issues

What kinda stuff do you think you'd write about? We're looking for regular contributors to the front page, ( see: http://www.libertylounge.net/forums/...tributors.html ) ..so if that's something you're interested in, or cross posting articles, etc, that's another option available

I'm not entirely sure what my niche would be, it would mostly be about politics, but theres tons of niches within that... I'm interested in international affairs, geopolitics and all that. American politics interests me too, Libertarian politics especially. Most of what I would write would be opinion and speculation. As for specific issues I feel there are some I understand better than others. So what I write would probably be at least somewhat varied, one post on nuclear energy, another on the future of the republican party, another on the situation on Iran and so on...
But I'm far from an expert on anything, I have a HS diploma and 2 years of college (still attending) under my belt and thats about it.

I would be kinda interested in the front page thing, how do I go about getting more information as to what it entails?
