We should be carefull to make distinctions between jihadists & their beliefs/practices & the vast majority of 'ordainary' Muslims. Even in the confines of LL.

Should our aim not be to isolate the appeal of the jihadist cause within the islamic world?

IMO opinion publically stating that 'they're all the same' aids the jihadist position, ..., "see! they all hate us all" etc

That was over a movie he made and it happened in 2004.

Absolutely not. I don't want all muslims dead. I want them to fit in with the rest of the world. When their culture changes, that eliminates the threat of terrorism. I'm not racist.

I've not denied either of those. I deny they are as prevalent or accepted as muslim terrorists.

Yeah, that was the rumor, that muslims killed them for promoting christianity or whatever. It was bullshit. Their upstairs tenant robbed and killed the family for their money.

The point of this thread was to say it's unacceptable to be intimidated into silence. People cannot be afraid to criticize Islam or any other religion. Death threats for criticizing Christianity are just as effective at silencing criticism as actual murder.

I disagree. Criticism of Christianity is just as common as it ever was. Noone is afraid to do so. You see 'art' in the form of 'piss christ' or 'poo poo mary' (I don't know that that was the name, but it defines the 'art' correctly) and yet you hear complaints from Christians. No riots, killings, anything. In fact the state funds that art. Imagine what would happen if you smeared Mohammed's face in poo? A mere cartoon or movie or even quote from the Pope gets riots, fires, murders, etc. All hell would break loose if poop or pee was spread over something sacred to them. Christians are not silencing anyone, nor are they instilling fear into someone. Mulsims are certainly having an effect. They have the Pope apologizing multiple times. Did anybody apologize about piss christ?
