How are terrorists a threat to my freedom?

Obviously they're a threat to my life because they're trying, and have tried, to kill me, but how are they a threat to my freedom? I wasn't aware of any terrorists trying to restrict my freedoms...in fact, the only people trying to do that are Americans. What am I missing?

It's not the terrorists but the "Security measures" that are being put into place, such as and certainly not limited to the USA Patriot act,
USA Patriot Act II, the current securtiy measures that the GOP are fightin
President Bush on, that attack your freedoms.

However, the next President we get just may try to appease them by making laws on their behalf or possibly even surrendering to them.

they are huge fans of freedom of religion:

We will break up the cross, spill the liquor and impose head tax, then the only thing acceptable is a conversion (to Islam) or (killed by) the sword."

Islam forbids drinking alcohol and requires non-Muslims to pay a head tax to safeguard their lives if conquered by Muslims. They are exempt if they convert to Islam.

Yes, I'll grant you that...they want to restrict my freedom to publically make fun of Mohammed, but is there anything else?

Okay, so they want to conquor America and convert us to Islam, but to constitute at actual threat, you not only have to be willing to do something, but also able. They're not able to do that, no where near it, not in a million years, and as such they're not a threat.

they want to establish a fundamentalist Islamic government, create a Taliban like-Afghanistan everywhere. that means the total abolishment of freedoms and the strict following of the Korah

They can be as serious as they want, but there's no way on this Earth they'll be able to conquor the West and convert us to Islam. They may be able to conquor a shithole like Afghanistan, but I asked about how they were a threat to my freedoms, not foreign people on the other side of the world.

so if they dominate the entire middle east and Iran has nuclear weapons you don't think they would be more powerful then they are currently. Look at the power they exerted over france with their labor riots

No, but what do you think will happen? They will invade Europe and the US, overcome our militaries/police, and force us all to convert? Even if they did invade America, just to go with your alternate galaxy hypothetical, they could never force us to do anything. We have too many guns.

The only real threat I see to my freedoms is the curtailing of civil liberties resulting from another attack. I don't mean that as a shot against the government either. I mean, if we have a nuclear attack, I don't see any choice but to turn our idea of America upside down...it'll be a matter of survival...but when you hear politicians talking about threats to our freedom, I don't think they're referring to them being forced to take away our freedoms. They must be referring to something else I don't understand.
