Are there parts of the US where this gesture is completely unknown? Its often on TV & its not typically used by 'terrorist' characters.

Surely very very few ppl wont see the 'terrorist' interpretation is somewhat silly, out of touch & an obvious case of bias?

Sirhan was a catholic anyways.
I had friends that would use that gesture back in highschool in a wealthy suburban, prodominately white area in the north east. In a private catholic prep school none the less. I think it would be fair to say that anyone who had never seen this gesture probably lived in a polygamist compound in Texas for most of thier life.

Even if its unknown can anyone think of any situation where it would be associated with terrorism? I can't picture Osama doing a fist bump with his fellow jihadists.

Osama Bin Laden

Or possibly a strict Amish?

Its laughable & will fool noone surely?

The smear, seemingly, is so naff & blatant that it must be the result of some hippie inflitrator within the Fox news production centre seeking to smear Fox

It was not quite as bad as it seemed if you listen to the whole thing. She wasn't saying it was a terrorist fist bump, but that is was one of the things she had heard it called and then she went on to talk about non verbal communications today. Although not as bad as it seemed at first it was obviously meant to get the word terrorist and Obama and his wife connected in peoples minds which is bad enough, but the editing of the thing was just as cowardly an act.

I'm sorry, but there's absolutely no excuse for any anchor on a major news network to suggest a Presidential candidate is performing a "terrorist fist jab"

No excuse. Just because some right wing nutjob on some obscure blog posed the question doesn't mean it should be lent any credence by being repeated on national television.

I thought it was kind of cute. Cute won't convince me to vote for Obama, but it certainly won't convince me he's a terrorist.

This type of reporting reminds me of the early days of the Patriot Act and 9/11 when network news would run stories about the body language of people on planes and in public places. It always seemed a little superifulous to me.

She seems to be just as surprised as you that some would call it a 'terrorist fist jab', and reporting it. Why would you assume she's labeling it as that? Notice the question after the statement? "A terrorist fist jab?! People call it all sorts of things..."

Uh, no one calls it a terrorist fist jab.

Also, Fox has a long history of putting question marks at the end of things they're trying to insinuate.. The Daily Show did an awesome bit about it:

This would appear considerably less suspect if the only example she subsequently provided wasnt a now scrubbed comment by a poster commenting on a blog post by a fellow Fox commentator, ..., especially as the accusation was immediately ridiculed by very many other comments.

Its all too easy to imagine that it was set up from the get-go, ..., & even if it wasnt her choice is still suspect as theres seemingly only 1 person on the planet who think its a terrorst fist punch.

FWIW my 75 year old father can remember doing it at school in Gateshead UK over 65 years ago
