Broccoli grew really well in Seattle for me, we actually planted too much of it and weren't able to eat all of it before it flowered. The Potatoes were quite good as well and none of them went to waste. I overplanted the zucchini, but I always do (the darn stuff grows so fast). Herbs always worked really well for me as well, had two rosmary bushes that were taller than I was. I am living in PA at the moment, and planted a smaller garden. Started off a little late this year but, it seems to be doing well enough for now. Rosemary doesn't do nearly as well for me in the PA summer heat/cold winters though. Even though it was more work, I miss the larger garden. | ||||

| You might need more room for those Cucumbers. Last year my cucumbers took over my garden. The vines must have been 15-20 feet long by the end of the summer. I am not growing them this year. I tried but The seedlings died because I planted them too early Originally Posted by 7960

| Oh ok. I have never done it like that before. Last year I just tried to train them up a trellice and they eventually just got so big that they spilled over and down to the side of the garden and started growing along side. | ||||

| I usually planted them earlier than this, but if you have a semi shady spot (perhaps the strip where you have most of your garden), then you could always go ahead and give it a try. They always went to flower on me before the growing season was done. | ||||

| They're pickling cucumbers so they're picked when they're about 6". After starting them in a direction the vines wrap themselves around the fencing and it kind of makes picking them easy unless they're way in the back and I don't see them before they get too big and rot. | ||||
