| At what point do you become "Old"? The saying goes that when you think about the past more than you think about the future, you have become old. If that is the case, I am not 54. I am 75. There are not many TV shows I like anymore. I still watch "Friends" reruns and a few cop drama shows, but most of the stuff I like was on during the '70s. Shows like "Mash" and "Taxi" and such. I don't even try to keep up with music anymore. I haven't really liked anything since the early 80's. And I simply can't stand Hip Hop. When I play my guitar, I still play Neil Young, Doobie Bros, Eagles, and Woody Guthrie. I am turning into an old man right before my eyes. Is this what they call a Midlife Crisis? I console myself by telling myself that at least i'm not out buying Lawrence Welk dvds. Another thing I've noticed. I'm beginning to look like my Avatar more and more every day.

| I think I'm a pretty "young" 43. As much as I love my old Floyd, Zep, Cheap Trick, Black Sabbath etc I really am enjoying the new alternative music. I can't get enough of the Foo Fighters, Radiohead, RHCP, Queens of the Stone Age and others. I have Sirius radio and it's always on Channel 21 which is all the new Alternative. I think my boys, 6 and 9, keep me young as well. Being a Cub Scout leader and helping coach baseball, soccer, swimming and whatever else they do is fun as well. I love it, though I do feel old at the end of the day because of how tired they make me. Matter of fact me, my wife and my boys just finished playing about 2 hours of Rock Band. My ass is sore from 2 hours on the drums. For the most part though, I feel like I'm in my lower 30's still. | ||||

I've been "old" since the 6th grade, maybe earlier, but I identified its beginning in that era. You are old when the past becomes bittersweet, when mourning what has been lost or what could have been..is the sweetest feeling. You are old when the present is not real until it becomes the past. I always looked forward to being old, because that was freedom to me. "old people" have nothing to prove, nothing to gain, nothing to lose, the past is done. It's not about TV shows or prices, it is more than that. Old age is more than wrinkles, it is a state of mind. ANd what of it? Old age brings wisdom, and nothing beats that. BTW, I'd bet you look nothing like your Avatar, but if you do, well, its still pretty cute! | ||||
