Narrative: Hunter is retiring from Congress at the end of the year after a failed presidential bid. His son Duncan D. Hunter, a Marine reservist who's served in Iraq and Afghanistan, won the GOP nomination for his father's seat and is favored to win in November.

Hunter last year sold the cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virgina that he'd owned with Army secretary and former Democratic U.S. Rep. Pete Geren of Texas. The sale price was $100,001-$250,000.
