So, what, everyone should sell thier homes and cars and live in huts? Would you be happy if Al gore lived in a VW microbus that ran on cow farts? I mean if he decided to live in a small home in the suburbs you would say that he wasn't any better than anyone else and you would still call him a hipocrite. It's complete nonsense. He has still done more for the environment than anyone on this board has. Oh he uses more electricity than the average american who earns 43k a year uses. You can call him whatever you want I guess. I'm sure He will take his Nobel Prize home and cry about it knowing that he has done more than almost anyone else in the name of environmental conservation.

19.33x the ammount. If one would round in that situation one would generally round down to 19.

I don't know.

I mean, is he supposed to be like those people in Pasadena who are in a completely sustainable:

Organic Gardening in Pasadena

They had a segment on a news show, and they have NO electric bill because they don't use electricity. (It's an amazing feat actually)

Is that what Al Gore needs to do to be able to promote his causes?

So, wouldn't that mean for John McCain to promote wars, he should enlist?

I think that this might border being nitpicky. It is alot of energy, but it makes me thing of people who are "important" and in their compounds people are usually UP all day long. They aren't just homes, they are their places of business as well. I am sure that adds to it. I wonder how may of his assistants live with him, maybe they don't turn off the lights, unplug their laptops, and Al Gore is running around chastizing everyone.

They didn't stop to ask him why. They just pull his electric bill and then call him a hipocrite.

In the current war?

It wouldn't do AL Gore any good to promote ethanol now, just like it doesn't do Mccain any good to ride the tail of Vietnam.

We are talking about the NOW aren't we?

Every male in McCain's family going back several generations has fought in war, iirc. (which is another reason I don't care to vote for him)

But at least McCain is a consistent warmonger. (that is, until Clinton wanted to bomb places in the 90s )

If I remember correctly he asked to go in front of Congress to preach about environmentalism and he received some criticism from Inhoffe. But yea, he's getting way more attention than he deserves.

Anyway, back to your point. Should he use zero electricity? No. Should he lead by example and spend some of his millions on making his home/office use less grid electricity every year and not more, YES!

He's a fucking hypocrite. Plus, he could be costing the world TRILLIONS of dollars on trying to stop warming that may have nothing to do with us at all.

Or he could be saving us trillions of dollars by getting us to switch away from fossil fuels, regardless of the reasons.

I like that "nothing to do with us at all", that's pretty funny at this point.

Well, didn't that article say he just spent money on upgrades?

Maybe he is waiting for the market to solve his energy problems, like the rest of us.

The military wouldn't let him because of his age. The closest he could get is to be Commander in Chief. You can vote for him and get him enlisted that way

But his family name might be fighting there soon. His son is in the Marines.

Nobody is asking for him to pick through his shit for seeds and live in the mountains or anything crazy. All people are saying is if he's gonna run around the world and make millions off preaching to me that I need to change my lifestyle to reduce my energy usage, perhaps he shouldn't be as wasteful as he is and continue to become more wasteful in the process. It doesn't seem he's making any real attempt to do anything at all about his own carbon footprint until it's pointed out by Fox News. The fact that he can be so blatantly wasteful and arrogant about his own energy consumption while preaching to me is hypocritical.

There are a lot of people who support the environmental movement. That's fine. I would like a cleaner earth too. But as soon as you start preaching to me about my lifestyle you better show that you have made any amount of commitment regarding your life. Otherwise you're a hypocrite. Do as I say, not as I do mentality.

John McCain served his country honorably and became disabled. The fact that people are saying a 70+ year old disabled man should go to war because he supports Iraq is absolutely absurd. Saying that a healthy, wealthy man should show consideration for his impact on the environment while he's raking in millions off preaching about it isn't. And even if you believe they are comparable, two wrongs don't make a right.

Yeah, on morality this should be the goal.

We should have listened to the Native Americans, they totally saw this coming.

It might be the only good that comes from this. But is it worth the $$$? People bitch about the cost of the Iraq war. It's peanuts compared to what the world is spending to try to change something that probably can't be changed by humans.
