I'm not defending him, the guy is obviously a hypocrite and you dont have to look far to see it, just saying, where and how he gets his energ is necessary in addition to simply how much of it he uses.

No they wont report it, they didn't report it a couple years ago when it was made public that NONE Of his energy at the time was coming from renewables despite wind options in his area.

The Tennessee Center for Policy Research, a Nashville-based free market think tank and watchdog organization, obtained information about Gore’s home energy use through a public records request to the Nashville Electric Service.

They would only know about the energy use that spun his meter so I believe that number is what he's pulling off the grid.

But he gives himself money for carbon offsets. It's a great scheme really. He starts up a company and then has people give him money to invest in the stock market to turn a profit on it off "green companies." So to offset his carbon he just invests his money in the stock market and makes a return. Now that's clever. Most rich people just invest in stocks to turn a profit. Al Gore does it to turn a profit and to be a hypocrite at the same time.

Yes thats correct, but if its like some of the Oklahoma utilities you can opt into renewables. For example OG&E and PSO both offer wind options if you live in Tulsa or Oklahoma city.

Algore was offered wind as an options a few years ago and he declined


But you're right its coming off the grid the question is how much is he getting via wind/solar and how much from coal or whatever their primary source of power is. Also, I think its funny as rich/loaded as Algore is that he doesn't have his own windmill(s) or solar panels. He's a hypocrite, end of story.

Ok NES has NO generation capacity they get it all from TVA. TVA generates just over 15,000 megawatts of their 32000 peak megawatts from coal. Only 6000 megawatts come from natural gas. Nuclear, hydro, wind combined can add 10,000 megawatts with 550 megawatts available from quick start natural gas plants.

That's horse pucky. You can't simply look at one persons electric bill for one year and assume that he's a hypocrite. That's just retarded. I used more electricity last year than the year before. You can look at my electric bill and see that. Does that mean I don't care about the environment? Oh maybe there is a reason.. I had a baby. Using more electricity was unaviodable. Maybe last year was hotter or cooler than the year before. maybe he traded a gas dryer for an electric one. Maybe he traded a gas range for a more efficent electric one.

This is a meaningless attack piece and it's worth the paper that I just wiped by butt with. I can't believe seemingly intelligent people fall for this crap hook line and sinker.

he "gets" carbon offsets for himself (and their employees) from a london-based company......a company he formed with a partner. They buy carbon offsets from Carbon Neutral Company, formerly Future Forests. Future Forests was bashed for claiming all they needed to do was plant trees in india to offset carbon elsewhere in the world. So they changed their name and now they also look at technology to solve the problem.

In other words gore's company GIVES him carbon credits as part of being part of the company so when he says he lives a "carbon neutral life" he might as well be saying "I still dump gallons of oil in *this* lake but I formed a company to clean up a lake somewhere in asia so it's a wash."
