Firefox 3 released

Just in case you guys didn't hear, it was released a day or so ago.

I installed it and am really liking it so far.

Firefox web browser | Faster, more secure, & customizable

I'm liking it as well. My old Firefox used to crash a lot, but this seems more stable.

I have been using the beta version on my main PC for a while. Much better than FF2.

FF3 is awesome.

Be aware, I heard there are problems with FF3 and MS Sharepoint. If your job uses that, you might want to hold off.

Also, if you use torbutton, you'll get logged out all the time. What a freaking annoyance.

That's not really a FF3 problem though

Phantom is a jewel in the rough

I can't tell much difference between 2 and 3 except 3 seems to take a bit longer to startup.

Anyone else notice longer startup times for FF3?

I didn't notice a difference, it may have to do with system specs though. They say it's supposed to be faster all around. I presume that means they're making better use of memory. But it might take a little more processing power to get it there.

It's definitely using less memory on my home computer.

3 seems a lot faster to me across the board.

Here's a good link about memory usage.. It benchmarks FF3 with other browsers, including Safari, Opera, a FF2 based browser, and IE:

"The author developed a program to snapshot memory usage per process every 3 seconds on Windows. Using this he recorded 3 hours of memory usage for five different browsers under real-world usage scenarios: Safari 3.1, Firefox 3, Flock 1.2 (a browser based on Firefox 2), Opera 9.5, and Internet Explorer 8. A million data points indicate that Firefox 3 has a surprising advantage over the other browsers tested. These are real-world tests and not contrived benchmarks."
