| Bush in Florida, NC for GOP fundraisers AP - President Bush raised money for Florida Republicans on Friday at a multimillion-dollar private residence near Naples Bay. Republican officials declined to say how much money was raised. Sen. Mel Martinez, R-Fla., joined Bush aboard Air Force One for the flight to Fort Myers, then took a 20-minute ride in the Marine One presidential helicopter to a football field in Naples. The president's motorcade winded through an upscale residential area to the home of Republican donors, John F. and Rhodora Donahue. Later, Bush was flying to Raleigh, N.C., to attend a fundraiser for Pat McCrory, a seven-term mayor of Charlotte, N.C., and Republican gubernatorial candidate. About 250 people attended the fundraising luncheon in Florida for Reps. Lincoln and Mario Diaz-Balart and other Florida Republicans. The Diaz-Balart brothers have represented South Florida, first in the state legislature and then in Congress. Lincoln Diaz-Balart is seeking a ninth term in the House. His brother, Mario, is seeking a fourth. source: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080620/ap_on_el_pr/bush_fundraisers [link] | ||||
