Military School

A post from Stylerod about his son repelling in Military School reminded me of my father. He attended several military schools when he was growing up. He eventually wound up graduating from Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
My father used to tell me stories about his experiences in Military School.
He was assigned to the Cavalry and during his first week at school his horse just up and died. He had to be assigned another horse.
He also told me of the time that he left his dorm window open in the winter with an electric fan on. While he was asleep, it began to snow.
When he woke up, he was covered with 2 inches of snow from head to foot. My father also played the bugle in the Cavalry.
To this day I still have his Sabre.
My father passed away in 1992.

Did he go to one of the major service academies or one of the smaller operations, like VMI or the Citadel?

It's cool you have his sabre still. What years did he go?

He went to VMI. I believe it was during the '40s.
