| N.Y. Senate Leader Bruno will not seek another term Reuters - New York's Republican Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno said on Monday he will not seek reelection, saying he wished to "move on with my life" after serving 32 years as an elected official. The Senate Republicans have only a slim majority and Bruno's decision not to seek reelection could strengthen the Democratic party's prospects. "Politics is a tough ball game. Tougher now than it has ever been," Bruno said in a statement. He added later: "Timing in life is everything. While there may never be a good time to make these kinds of life decisions, I have decided that it is time for me to move on with my life." A spokesman for Bruno was not immediately available to comment on the status of a federal probe into the Senate majority leader's business ties that Bruno himself revealed. Former Democratic Gov. Eliot Spitzer, who resigned in mid-March amid a prostitution scandal, had tried to tarnish Bruno's reputation by publicizing his use of state aircraft.
