| Gmail on your own domain I just found out about this the other day, it's pretty cool.. Basically, you sign up for an account on google apps: Welcome to Google Apps And through whatever hosting provider you have now, you can switch your DNS records to point to Google, which will then host and carry your mail for you. You'll be sending from you@yourdomain.com, you can set up email alias' (they call them "nicknames") to receive and send from.. and it comes with Google's spam filters, which in my experience.. aside from a strict deny all policy except for addresses whitelisted.. is the best I've come across by far. If you have access to your mail through IMAP or Pop3, you can even maintain your current mail (dates, subjects, and all) through their program, Google Email Uploader: Google Email Uploader I just got done converting, I love gmail and think it's fantastic, and barring some ability to actually run their email program locally at my own domain (which I'd prefer for privacy concerns), I'm really enjoying it so far. | ||||

| Your e-mail is probably more secure and private on Gmail's system than your web host. Just something to think about. But it is cool having Gmail's attached to your domain though. | ||||

| Is there any plan to add folders to Gmail? I could really use the sorting ability. Other than that, Gmail is superior in every way for my uses. | ||||

| You can sort your email already with their "label" ability.. You'll have links to the labels on the left just like a folder, and it'll only show mail's you have tagged with those labels But, unlike folders, all your email is still in the main inbox You also have the ability to tag things with multiple labels, which makes it superior to folders IMO | ||||

| And you can preserve your current folder structure (somewhat) by having the email uploader automatically apply labels to various folders the email is coming from | ||||

| I've been using this for like a month. I dig it, but the Start Page app is pretty shitty. I wish it was more like the Google Home Page thing. It sorta is, except custom content is limited to what the site admin puts in, and you can't have multiple tabs or use any of Google home page's themes. | ||||

| Gmail on your domain...PLEASE HELP! Ok...I have added gmail to my domain. Very cool, very good to have. However, given that I am not always able to be online, sometimes I like to have a bit of redundancy. So I want to set up an email account on my Apple Mail Client. And have my gmail from my domain, funnel into the Apple mail as well as staying up on the web. But I cannot find the proper settings to do so. Since the email is NOT one that ends with "@gmail.com", the help files for setting up Apple Mail Clients are unhelpful. And I have searched the help files and the FAQs, etc., etc...... You all are my only hope...."help me Obi.....nahhhh can't get that geeky in the first posting on the forum! But I really would appreciate the counsel. Thanks. | ||||
