WTF Mayor Daley rant.

Daley called the ruling "very frightening" and vowed to vigorously fight any attempt to invalidate the city's ban.

"Does this lead to everyone having a gun in our society?" Daley asked while speaking at a Navy Pier event. "If [the justices] think that's the answer, then they're greatly mistaken. Then why don't we do away with the court system and go back to the Old West, you have a gun and I have a gun and we'll settle it in the streets?"
Please tell me he doesn't represent the view of most Chicago Democrats

He just sounds like a complete idiot there. He should have known better before giving such an absurd soundbyte.

I doubt many Democrats want to get rid of the court system. He's just being dramatic.

It's interesting though, they can still have regulations in place, they just can't ban hand guns entirely.. I think the city will come to some reasonable compromise

Oak Park, IL Village President David Pope:

"The ruling is incredibly ironic in that it places Justice Scalia and the four other conservative justices on the Supreme Court squarely arm-in-arm with the gangbangers who terrorize far too many communities."

These stories make me so glad I moved from IL.

Based on his words I have a feeling it won't be very reasonable to be honest.

No, it won't. He'll probably make applying for a license $10,000 or something. Then there will be more lawsuits. He will make sure it's a clusterfuck.

Too bad the "Wild West' is highly Hollywoodized and it was actually a very safe, libertarian place to live.
