| new development, they cut them all down so they can put houses closer together. then they plant 6' trees and tell people they'll be 30' in a few years but don't mention they'll need to be cut down because [:gasp:] the houses are too close together and there's no room. | ||||

| The trees aren't that big in TX and OK for the most part.. at least not like they are in NC. Some of the oldest neighborhoods in the Dallas have giant ones, but this looks like a pretty new development, so there's definitely not going to be a ton of 30+ year old trees | ||||

| Who doesn't like trees? Big trees increase the price of your home quite a lot. At my grandmothers house, a bolt of lightning killed a huge one she had right in the front.. Split it right in half and part of it fell through a huge, multi-pane glass window in one of the front bedrooms Besides paying for the damage to the house, the insurance also paid some money for a loss of property value because of the tree's death. They planted a new one, but it'll be decades before it's as good as the older one. | ||||

| Looks like we bought it, we close on July 25th on our new house and July 24th for selling our old one. Nothing like cutting it close | ||||

| Well its not that I dont like trees but my current neighborhood was built 40 years ago. On my .28 acre lot I have 11 trees...errr scratch that 9 trees, ice storm totally destroyed two of them. Of those 9 5 of them are stupendously huge. Too much shade, kills the grass, and too many leaves in the fall and it allows water to sit in areas that may be hard to get to in a landscaped lawn like my current house so it breeds mosquitos. Basically two, three or maybe even four trees is fine, but 11ty billion trees like I have now? For the lose! | ||||

| I agree about the trees. My back yard is really shady and I love it... just gotta choose a good grass for it ![]() The front yard has 2 decently sized maples that protect the garage from being a hotbox, but my drive way comes up in front of the front door and front spare bedroom. In the afternoon that bedroom is especially bad, and there's not really anything I can do about it. | ||||

But yea big trees aren't necessarily bad....moderation is the key. | ||||
