There are four categories because you have two categories and two choices for each... .2^2 = 4

If someone believe in both fiscal and social freedom, they are libertarian. If they believe in neither, they are statist. If they believe in one or the other, they are conservative or liberal. That's just how the quiz has defined them

Because conservatives care less about personal freedom (see: drug laws, sex laws, etc). Forced service in the army is definitely against personal freedom principles

And it doesn't move you right. It moves you down and to the right, like I said. Check it out, chose middle of the road for every question except the one I disagreed with.

it just depends on what personal "freedom" you are talking about, gun law for instance

Which is why the quiz doesn't address guns.

It's only referring to economic conservative and social liberal. Don't mix that up with Republican and Democrat.

That's one thing different about this quiz, and probably advantageous: it doesn't mention gun rights, abortion, or the death penalty. It's more geared toward property and behavior, and government's role in those things.
