Who really cares? At this rate, wiretaps, e-mail invasion, privacy invasion, you won't be able to get away from the all seeing eye. Welcome to FISA World! Wee... Seriously, if Congress keeps doing what they're doing now... You'll never read a bad word about people's governing ever again and I mean it.

Credit for what? Delivering Americans to the terrorists so they don't have to go to all the trouble of coming here? Credit for using torture, for tearing up the constitution and breaking the law? For eroding civil liberties?
Please, give me a break. If he really got the credit he deserved he would be impeached by now.

Thinking along similiar lines here: Anyone think Bush will get credit if his Vision for Space Exploration turns into a success? Or maybe even a partial success, like just going back to the Moon and not Mars, or using Constellation technology for a manned asteroid mission instead of going to the Moon.

The old FISA was written to protect American's from the executive's overreaching wiretapping during the Nixon Administration. It required judicial oversight to ensure it wasn't being abused

The new FISA is written to protect this Administration from their violation of the law, illegal warrantless wiretapping with no judicial oversight outside the scope of FISA, a felony since it's a violation of federal law.. and it also seeks to protect the telecommunication companies who willingly violated the law and the Constitution by participating.

It's a horrible, unconstitutional law.

70-30 Senate Support, its can't be that bad. Maybe the reason Obama voted for it is he knows the large shoes he will be filling and he will need all the tools that he can get his hands on.

There was overwhelming support for many things in history that were bad.

Impeached by whom? It is Congress that authorized war, funded war, just voted in line with Bush's interpretatin of FISA, named Gitmo prisoners "enemy combatants", allowed waterboarding, shredded these prisoner's habeas corpus or other Constitutional rights.

They'd have to impeach themselves. Please.

Not all of them. I'll agree with you that we should toss out the one's who did, though

Only 2 dems voted for it Obama & Lieberman. So in the end it was the Republicans majority that voted for it. Now you want to talk about the House decision, only 1 Republican voted against it. While "Centrist" Dems swung the vote towards the GOP. No I don't support the senate bill, and the American people's disapproval for the Congress & the President's Administration, I think that should be the primary focus of our Congress. We're not happy, they need to change their governing.

I don't know where you got info but it is incorrect. If the republicans only had 2 democratic senators to switch sides, they would not have gotten enough votes (60) to end the debate and force a vote.

GovTrack: H.R. 6304: FISA Amendments Act of 2008 (Vote On Passage)

George Jr. will go down in history as one of the worst President's ever. His administration was too focused on getting Sadam to do anything else. He took executive powers to new heights by fear mongering and basically rolled over anyone who tried to stop him. He bankrupted the country to wage an unpopular and unecessary war in Iraq. While I don't believe he is responsible for the current recession, I believe he will also get blamed for that. I also think any future terrorist attacks will be able to be linked to the Bush Administrations foreign policy or war in Iraq, so IMO he will get blamed for years, maybe even decades, for any terrorist attack on US soil.

They traced to 9/11 plot back to intercepted messages from the mid-90s so it went back years. It will be easy to show the terrorist(s) in question joined the group or formed a new group as a result of the actions in the past 7 years.

I love the dichotomy.............the attack in 2001 was his fault because it "happened on his watch" but if he tries to claim credit for no attacks since then he can't because correlation does not imply causation.

Except for the facts that there have been thousands of terrorists attacks you might have a point.

I need to drive across the country next month. Please edit this and put dots where all these "thousands of terrorist attacks" have occurred so I can avoid those areas.

If it happens, it certainly won't be because of Bush, considering how he hasn't done shit for their funding

Do you really base your opinion of laws on their popularity with a group of people that can't be trusted to keep their promises?

You are aware that there exists a larger world outside of the borders of the US?

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18399660/
Terror attacks worldwide rose 25 percent in ’06

Terrorist attacks worldwide shot up 25 percent last year, particularly in Iraq where extremists used chemical weapons and suicide bombers to target crowds, according to a new State Department report.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...802181_pf.html

The number of terrorist attacks worldwide increased nearly fourfold in 2005 to 11,111, with strikes in Iraq accounting for 30 percent of the total, according to statistics released by U.S. counterterrorism officials yesterday.
