If you're referring to Castle Doctrine, Texas is not the only state that has laws on the books for that to my understanding. Of course the specific wording is going to be different from state to state, though.

However, I'm honestly not sure how Castle doctrine applies to defending other people's property - I figured I should note that in fairness to your arguments. I suspect that the only reason this guy isn't facing charges is a grand jury decided not to indict him.

No, what's ridiculous is you continuing to say he HAD to. He did NOT have to. He CHOSE to. And he worked himself into the frenzy while SAFELY INSIDE HIS HOUSE. At one point he even taunts the dispatcher when the dispatcher says "you'll get shot if you go out" and he says "You wanna bet? I'm gonna kill them." He forced the situation so please stop saying he "had" to do anything.

Thankfully the police detective was also around to note that he didn't just shoot them with no warning.
Wait, earlier you said the police weren't there. Now you're saying they were?

And yes I do not believe he warned the robbers. Listen to the tape and you won't hear it where he's saying it should be.

I'm glad that I live in a state that values human life over personal property then. IMO this docterine invalidates our entire "innocent until proven guilty". you have a right to a trial of your peers. I'd rather those thieves get away then to have an innocent person killed.

Castle doctrine says you can defend yourself and your house and sometimes others who are in danger. Besides texas I've never seen a castle doctrine law that allows you to involve yourself in a situation and then kill someone and use that situation that you created as justifcation for killing someone.

The information I had previously didn't include that. Sorry

A police captain says differently according to my supremely reliable sources over at wikipedia

I have no idea, can't listen to the tape right now but in fairness I will when I'm able....

I would too, but they don't appear to be innocent

If we're talking property, I'd rather they get away than a guilty person killed.

Like I said before, if they were making him fear for his safety then by all means pull the trigger. But he was never in danger.

It's not there.

The very court system that all of you love so much already declared that this guy is innocent. How can you disagree with that?

I'm not talking about that. I am talking about the two men who were executed by a vigilante. The murderer was given the benefit of his day in court and a trial by jury. Why should he have that benefit and not those who merely stole some material goods? This man killed two people and he got a trial. The dead guys? they stole some stuff.

He's not a murderer. The courts have declared he is not a murderer.

IMO, he is a murderer. In my book, when you leave your home, go out into the street and gun down two people premeditatedly, two people who posed no threat to anyone... thats murder. So I call him a murderer.

Strange that you didn't call the burglars burglars, though.

Two burglars pose a threat to the neighborhood as a whole.

Isn't that all that liberalism is about? You know, collectivism, and all that? If someone robs my neighbor, it's the same as if they're robbing me.
