Why is this McGreevy(sp) former gov of New Jersey...

Why is this getting so much news? More importantly why are people only focusing on the "Gay" fact? What about the fact that he lied to his wife? The people of New Jersey? What about the fact that he hired "his lover" for a position he later admitted he should have never hired him for?

The real story should be about his appointments based on whether or not they had sex with him. Corrupt politics at its finest. Yet no one is talking about it. CNN touched on it last week and Fox hasn't yet touched on it.

McGreevey is an asshole, but I'll try to explain it without being too bias

McGreevey is a gay politician who was elected governor of NJ. His sexuality was a secret and he wanted to keep it that way. He is married and has children.

When he was elected he appointed Cipel as his Homeland Security advisor. Cipel was not qualified and the federal government wouldn't clear him for security clearance to obtain any information. This didn't bother McGreevey. Apparently having a homeland security advisor actually advise him on anything other than a blowjob meant nothing to him. Cipel was not an American citizen, he was just some guy McGreevey met while on vacation in Israel a few years prior. He wanted to work with him to continue a love affair.

Essentially that love affair went stale and Cipel decided to file sexual harrassment charges against McGreevey. Now the news was out. McGreevey admitted to being gay and even admitted to being extorted by people who knew of his sexuality to write policies in their favor.

McGreevey abused the corrupt Democratic policy of pay to play in this state and extorted millions from US tax payers to his buddies and people who were bribing him.

So anyway, McGreevey admitted he was gay and made it a big fuss about leaving office because he was gay and people don't like gay people. That simply wasn't the case. It was around this time that he admitted to being gay that many people started admitting to having "deals" with him in exchange for not exposing his sexuality. His career as a politician was ruined. So he decided to resign and blamed it on his sexuality. But he decided to set the date for his regisnation after Nov. so that the Dems would keep control for another year and his challenger wouldn't be able to get the position.

So basically NJ went a few months with a lame governor just so the Dems could continue to keep full control of the state. During this time McGreevey did nothing, NJ was hurt and the Dems loved the fact that they were still going to have control. Republicans constantly protested him to resign now rather than keep an empty seat reserved for the next Dem.

The Green Party of all parties actually then decided to take it to court. They claimed that McGreevey was leaving his office in vacancy for months until the Nov. 15 deadline and that was clearly against the NJ laws and the rights of registered voters. Of course since this is NJ and our courts are liberal as hell, it was denied... under no legal justification, we can all assume it was because the judicial system wanted to keep the Democrats in power for the upcoming year.

A month later they brought the case to the superior court where it was again denied.

So then our senator Codey became "acting" governor. He didn't like the idea that he was only "acting governor". He enjoyed being both Senator and Governor of NJ and wanted it to last. So he wrote himself up a bill that says if you're "acting" governor you become governor. In NJ it wasn't hard for a Democrat to pass... for obvious reasons. So there it went.

Then a NJ talk radio personality made a comment about his wife. So Codey shows up at the station with six NJ state troopers and tells him to "take it outside." When the talk show host declined, Codey threatened his life.

Out went Codey and in comes Corzine who made himself famous by shutting down NJ's government for a week in order to hold our state hostage to increase our sales tax rather than cut our enormous spending.

Ok back to McGreevey. He claims he left because now that his secret is out NJ would attack him and spread "rumors" about him. This was his way of getting out before all his corruption was brought up in court. He basically tucked his head down and got the fuck out of there before he was completely destroyed (as if he didn't do a good enough job already).

McGreevey keeps making this about his sexuality, when in reality it's just a coverup for the typical Democratic practices that go on in NJ.

PS - This is why I consider myself a Democrat, but dislike them so much. You can't live in this state and not get pissed off at their economic and social practices. They used to be a good party, but the crap that goes on in NJ will happen to our country if they gain too much country. Too much of one party isn't a good thing.

Which is exactly why I'm so pissed off. No one is covering that part of the story simply because he's "gay".

It's still typical of "conservatives" to care more about someones sexuality than they do about a behavior like corruption. We saw proof of that time and time again in the military/gay thread.

They make it an issue, and then want to complain when it becomes central to someones public persona?

There are many, many gay politicians in NJ. In fact, that radio station listed above "outs" them now all the time so the public knows who is gay and they can't be bribed like McGreevey.

I have not seen one protest or negative word about any gay politician in NJ due to their sexuality, not even McGreevey. You can blame it on conservatives, but the few conservatives in NJ don't care what sexuality their politicians are. Every other gay politician in NJ has kept their position with no shame and no backwash from the public... even after being "exposed" and not being upfront about their sexuality.

He is in a democratic state and he is the one that stepped down. Nobody made him do it.

It's too bad liberals are so forgiving on infidelity. That's the real issue here. The guy was married and had a family, and he cheated on her. That's an understatement. Neither liberals nor conservatives should think highly of that.

What the hell are you talking about? Its the virtually the entire media including the left that is worried about his sexuality. Do some searching for articles on this. Conservatives have nothing to do with this
