How am I blowing it out of proportion? I stated what Fox did and said what I think it's indicative of, a willingness to lie and manipulate the facts to their viewers in order to help them make whatever point they're trying to make.

I said it's not the worst thing Fox has done, it's just one more thing, one more reason not to take them seriously as a news outlet.

I don't know where I've really defended him before, I think the closest I've gotten is during a comparison of Fox and MSNBC's lineups, saying MSNBC was more balanced than Fox because at the time, they had two Republicans with their own shows (Tucker Carlson, Joe Scarborough) before and after him

The obvious manipulation of the photos makes it clear. FNC is the most popular news station there is. I'd think the folks at FNC are smart enough to know that such obvious manipulation isn't going to go unnoticed.

Altering pictures as a joke but not letting people know it's a joke to cause us further ridicule and to get us taken even less seriously than we already are. That'll get us one step closer to our goal of becoming as reliable as World Net Daily!"

"hey guys, let's manipulate the photos and try to pass them off as real, but don't manipulate them discreetly, manipulate them so we'll all get caught manipulating them, that way we can lose all credibility in the media world!"

After the AP and NYT last year got caught with manipulating photos in Israel and Lebanon, who would do such a thing?

It's not an obvious manipulation at all unless you take a hard look at it in the context of whether or not it's a manipulated photograph. These people don't have well known faces, and I'd bet you'd never seen them before this thread.

Exaggerating their features isn't going to be picked up as a joke the as it would be with someone else's face who's more well known, nor would the manipulation be taken as an obvious reference to something specific, ie: making their nose grow extremely large to say they weren't telling would be a reference to Pinocchio.. nothing so comical or obvious is in play here.

You say it's a joke, but there was no indication that it was meant as one, so your assertion makes absolutely no sense. I've already addressed the issue of whether they thought it'd go unnoticed earlier in the thread.

Given the program and outlet, I think most people take it with a grain of salt. Most of what they say in the morning is followed with a chuckle, even the "dumb FNC viewers".

You might have something resembling a point if the manipulations weren't done with such subtlety, but they were, so you don't.

Actually, that was photographers in Lebanon the AP hired to take photographs rather than the organization itself, get the story right if you're going to try to use it to make a point.

If you're looking at them with a critical eye for manipulation, you can spot it. If you aren't, it's likely you wont notice.

The fact that they aren't especially good upon close inspection negates nothing I've said in this thread.
