Yet another Canadian Anarchist

I got a message politely asking me to introduce myself. So...umm...I'm Angus. *Crickets*

I was asked to come check the place the site out and I've come to like it, although from what I can gather my presence may not add anything to table as the libertarian/liberal/anarchist side seems fairly full.

I was raised in Canada and the US.
I have a degree in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech and attended MIT for two semesters.
I'm a scooter enthusiast.
I'm an avid Banjo player.

I didn't see this last part, I know we have one other guy going to Georgia Tech right now, and we used to have someone who was doing post doctoral work at MIT

Definitely not anarcho-communist (whatever that is).

However, I reject the term "anarcho-capitalist" on the grounds that the term "capitalist" and it's general usage. Generally, the term "capitalism" hides an assumption that the current system (in America and Canada, respectively) is a free market (I've already seen this within this site). And since the current system is not a free market, but rather one of government favouritism toward business, I cannot identify myself as a "capitalist."

Not at all. Most of the first anarchists were left-wing communists.

It wasn't really until Rothbard that capitalism was synergized with anarchism effectively. (though there were certainly capitalist American individualists in the 19th century)

I suppose that's why some prefer "market anarchist". I can understand that, but I think that capitalist is an appropriate term. Capital, in this sense, is wealth, including money and property, owned, used, or accumulated by a person or a company. A shorter definition would be the fruit of one's labor. Capitalism implies ownership by individuals or companies.

Great. Now I have to google a bunch of bands that I've never heard of.

Great authors though.

Army, police, roads? Oh my, I never even thought of those.
Ever hear of private security? Private military companies? Roads cannot be built privately?
Nope, still no need for evil.

For jimeigh: The bleedingalarm are more popular out west, they aren't really that big, (or known) over hear on the island.

For Kinggovernor: I avoid as many government services as I can, including the hospitals. Unfortunately, it is impossible to avoid the government completely.

You ain't an Anarchist if you say you cannot avoid government completely. Whether you believe this or not if you get rid of the govenment we have now you would just have to replace it with something just like it. We need to do what we can to make this one better. We are lucky because we can do it, we have a democracy, with a bill of rights.

Yeah, and then we could have private wars. And those will cause different companies to band together and form private alliances. And these companys can decide on rules and regulations that their employees have to follow in order for the company to be successful. Yup, no governments here.
