| Well, I guess it makes sense. Plate tectonics are the primary cause of volcanic activity. When volcanoes erupt, they release tons of ash and gas into the atmosphere, including CO2 (although I'm not sure how much.) While the ash eventually falls back to Earth, the gasses become part of our atmosphere. | ||||
