| N. Korea agrees to dismantle reactor North Korea has agreed to dismantle it's nuclear reactor in exchange for oil and economic aid from the US and China. In other words, we bribed them. Still, bribery is better than going to war. After all, as a country, we haven't done that well at war lately, and bribery is obviously much cheaper than war (and nobody gets killed). One has to wonder why we don't bribe more people more often. Of course, Bin Laden probably wouldn't take a bribe...he's already rich, but hell, we could probably bribe the government of Cuba for a few million pesos and make Bush President of Cuba once he gets kicked out of the White House. Even Bush couldn't screw up Cuba worse than it is now. And while we are at it, we could buy the Palistinians off and get a kick back from Israel. Why bomb when you can bribe to get what you want. Lobbyists have been doing it for years.

| Yeah, but this kinda sets a bad precedent: Need easy money? Just piss off the U.S. and they'll give money until you knock it off! What about all the nations that you know, don't have horrible human rights records and crackpot dictators. They don't get anything because.... well they're just not big enough assholes to us? I agree that this is preferable to war, but we can't throw money at every problem and expect it to go away, in fact the more we use this "tactic" the less effective it becomes. | ||||
