Ventura says he doesn't plan to seek Senate seat

AP - Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura says he won't launch a third-party bid for the U.S. Senate "at this moment."

But the former pro wrestler said Monday on CNN's "Larry King Live" that things could change before the filing deadline the next afternoon.

Ventura says his family fears they will be attacked in the media if he runs.

He also squelched speculation about his possible effect on the already hard-fought race between Republican Sen. Norm Coleman and funnyman Democrat Al Franken.

Minnesota's political class has waited for a week to hear Ventura's decision. But there was also the possibility he was just enjoying the spotlight.

Ventura beat Coleman for governor in 1998 in a three-way race and didn't run for a second term.
