Hello United States, welcome to the U.S.S.R.

Man Arrested For Unlawful Photography | TriCities

Man that took a picture of a police officer was jailed.

For taking a picture of a police officer.

A man was jailed for taking a picture.

The USSR did this too. I love our country.

I don't see how that's legal. that should go to the supreme court. Thats a 1st ammendment violation.

Let's face it, some cops are just Nazis in police uniforms. Not most of them but some of them.

"Man has only those rights he can defend."

Until someone pushes it, it's illegal (where ever this happened).

edit: I just read the story. This thread is stupid. A cop overstepped his bounds just like happens every day. The cop should be reprimanded but "US/USSR" would only apply if it were actually illegal to arrest someone for taking a picture, which it's not. The charges will be dropped.

I don't believe that police officers have a "reasonable exception of privacy" while at a traffic stop.

But the dude was driving a hummer, so he probably was a dick.

The only time I would consider that sort of thing justified would be if the officer was under cover and the revelation of his identity could lead to his death. A traffic stop doesn't qualify.

Don't you think making a commotion and arresting someone over a picture is worse for cover than just letting the guy go on his way?

References to the USSR is a little extreme. The man will fight this in court and the charges will most likely be dropped.

If someone is taking his picture for that reason, then they already know and it's too late.

If he makes a commotion then it will be obvious anyway

according to the man.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a law about unlawful photography. I also won't be surprised when the charges get dropped because the cop arrested him for that inappropriately.

actually I was going to comment on what a good story that tricities.com did. The story was mostly his side of the story but they got a copy of the policeman's affidavit which was awesome
