Although I marvel at the skill of even those who come last I dont like the events where the scoring is so subjective, gymnastics, diving etc.

Its one thing to argue that 'we wuz robbed' coz the ball was/wasnt over the line it another all together if its marks for artistic interpretation etc

I find the distance of Holts 100m victory suspicious, but the Jamacian team seem to have been very heavily drug tested by the authorities, so much blood has been taken that the Jamacian press has dubbed them'vampires'.
Equally the GB supremacy in the velodrome can be seen as possibly dodgy too, but again the sport is very heavily policed thruout the year.

It seems that although Mr Brown will attend it'll be London mayor Boris Johnson who'll be accepting the torch in the closing ceremony.
On behalf of the British ppl I'd just like to apologise in advance for whatever offence/f*ck up the celebrated buffon will inevitably cause
Aw he might surprise you and you Brits will do a great job after all you were our founding fathers fathers.

The american sprinters have really bombed. Not a good year. sprint relays were ugly. Quarter milers and long hurdler have done fine though. Sweeps can't beat that. They need to win both long relays now. Men should win easily you would think with their sucess in the 400.

Indeed I could be surprised as most ppl here think that BoJos only chance of getting thru his visit to China without ballz up is by being trussed up like Hannibal Lecter, ..., & even then it would be a close run fing.

The debacle of the building of the new Wembley Stadium a few years back doesnt bode well for any new build. Brother Boris Mididoctors, (a sometime bachelor of this very parish), worked on it & the tales he can tell are staggering

As for 2012, ..., to go with the crap graffitti logo the 'edgy' urban post-modern pentathlon is a likely new event.
Its not exactly clear what it will be comprised of but most likely it'll be 24 hour surveillance, (on a closed circuit of course), 4 x 3 fingered knife relay, synchronised crisp eating, distance vomiting & Rock Paper Scissors.

Seps arent fancied much for the Rock Paper Scissors as bizarely, as a class, they know NTFA of rock.

Instead of the 50km walk, the 6 hour standing still coz of traffic has been confirmed IIUC.

I'm considering training for the 109 yard & 1 inch moan & whinge.

If you Brits show the old stiff upper lip and display the same humor that you show here it should be a entertaining and great time.

As theres little support for a permanent site I'd rather it had gone to rising optimistic nation like Brazil or possibly India rather than battered old places like UK

I also think the security will be very intrusive & most likely excessively unfriendly, ..., the cops in the UK are losing any pretence of politeness, are scared of everyone & massive over reaction is the default, ..., its getting quite scary.

OTOH the remarkable success of Team GB this time round perhaps there'll be a more optimistic approach to the whole deal?

This is quite funny in its silliness
BBC NEWS | Politics | Minister stakes shirt on Olympics

Quite a good Olympics from a sporting POV this time round I feel.

One thing that has irked me tho', & i feel silly saying this, is the use of the word 'medal' as a verb by the TV commentators/pundits.

p.s. i stole some of the humour

edit to add

When looking into India & sport I was reminded of the bloody odd breath holding Kabaddi & stumbled across Sepak Takraw, ..., which seems stratling enough to share

More leaks on the brit bit of the closing ceremony of the first international Guess the Age of the Little Girl championship make it seem nigh on unmissible
queues, brollies, bike couriers, democratically manufactured pop stars, bowderised grizled hairy old men, buses, Becks, BoJo & best of all the shipping forecast.
Summat for us all there surely?
All together now "Viking, Dogger, German Bight, ..."
