And Mccain blames Obama for high gas prices?

Boy, if that isn't the pot calling the kettle black.

Maybe he didn't like some of the other dozens and dozens of other things that were attached to that bill

It isn't just an energy bill. It's the "Jobs, Energy, Families, and Disaster Relief Act of 2008"

That's the thing these days. They load such a huge pile of shit on a bill they think will go through that all the sudden a good bill becomes crap. I hate that and both parties do it.

Obama didn't vote for this either.

Newt was on hannity and colmes last night saying that gas prices and oil prices have been dropping just from merely talking about drilling for new oil, then proceeded to imply that the price would drop even more crazy if we actually did it.

... but they failed to mention that US demand for oil dropped the most it has in 26 years, something like 800,000 barrels a day.

Yeah, it's not just one or the other, it's both. When Bush said he would lift the ban on drilling gas prices went down that same day quite a bit.

Prices are based on futures speculation. Some sources say we may have more oil than Kuwait. If that proves to be true and we start ramping up to drill prices will continue to fall.

I would love it if we could bring our dependence on foreign oil down to little or nothing. We will always need oil. Not just for fuel but for so many other things that won't be affected by more solar/wind/nuclear power.

I dont care if its foreign, but I don't think we should be buying from the middle east and chavez. The middle east is about 14% of supply. I think a good compromise would be to get half of that 14% or more from conservation and alternatives and the rest from drilling. They don't want us there, fine by me..they don't get our money either...and its tens of billions.

Both the wind and solar industries depend on these credits — which expire in December — to scale their businesses and become competitive with coal, oil and natural gas. Unlike offshore drilling, these credits could have an immediate impact on America’s energy profile.
Maybe they shouldn't be depending on a government handout to make their business work, and instead depend on building a quality, competitive product.
