Another McCain Gaffe.

Money shot is at the end.

This is either a joke or he's getting Alzheimers. I can't believe he would say something like that.

That is funny. I wonder what he said after that. The video cut him off pretty abruptly.

MCCAIN: Well, when I say that, I think that we need to make sure that our NATO allies are -- work closely with us. I think it's important that everyone recognize throughout the world that in the NATO alliance, an attack on one is viewed as an attack on all. But I don't think we're going to reignite the Cold War here with Russia. I think this is a very serious situation, but I don't see this as a return to nuclear standoffs, et cetera, et cetera.

I want to have a dialogue with the Russians. I want them to get out of Georgian territory as quickly as possible. And I am interested in good relations between the United States and Russia.

But in the 21st century, nations don't invade other nations. And we will decide in subsequent days as to whether there's a degree of provocation and who was right and who was wrong. But you cannot justify the extent and the degree of the Russian intervention in Georgia, and so we need to obviously show solidarity.

I mentioned the solidarity expressed by the presidents of five countries, all of whom have lived under Russian domination at one time or another. So my point is that all of us show solidarity together and do whatever we can to make sure that behavior in the 21st century is one of respect for the sovereignty and independence of nations, and that includes the country of Georgia. That's what I meant by that in my response.

Yes, ma'am?
That's the transcript.

That puts it more into context. That one sentence is worded strangely but the rest of the quote seem pretty much dead on.

Okay, but nations don't invade other nations? How can he even contemplate that sentence into existence when he knows we invaded Afghanistan and Iraq?

I don't know what he meant. Like I said, it's a strange sentance that makes no sense. I'm guessing he misspoke because the rest of what he said is good.

It demonstrates a fundamental lack of understanding; his "misspeaking" are starting to fill a book, if you can't grasp the basic and important facts that have tremendous impact on our country on the foreign policy front, you are not fit to lead a country. We tried it once before and Bush II didn't do such a hot job.

They all do it. Just some you hear about more than others

"On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes — and I see many of them in the audience today — our sense of patriotism is particularly strong." - Obama
He was seeing ghosts?

"I had an uncle who was one of the — who was part of the first American troops to go into Auschwitz and liberate the concentration camps." - Obama
The Russians liberated Auschwitz. No Americans were involved.

“Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go. Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to even though I really wanted to visit, but my staff would not justify it.” - Obama
He's been to 57 states, with one left to go. Alaska and Hawaii!

We are not comparing the same things - McCain makes "Gaffes" about issues that affect our security. Obama just made a common historical mistake and grammar mistakes. Two totally different things with totally different consequences if such mistakes were repeated in the White House...*cough* *cough* Iraq

Everything he said was clear and on topic except for that one sentence. He misspoke. Big fucking deal. We all do it! But come on. You think that is worse than saying "I have been to all 57 states except one. Hawaii and Alaska." I mean, holy hell. That is a HUGE blunder.

Is that bigger than saying than McCain saying:

McCain twice appeared to mistake Sunnis and Shiites, two branches of Islam that split violently. <Source is CBS news>

Or how about when he said this:

"common knowledge and has been reported in the media that al-Qaeda is going back into Iran and receiving training and are coming back into Iraq from Iran, that's well known. And it's unfortunate." A few moments later, Sen. Joseph Lieberman, standing just behind McCain, stepped forward and whispered in the presidential candidate's ear. McCain then said: "I'm sorry, the Iranians are training extremists, not al-Qaeda."
C'mon man, they don't compare

This wasn't an accident or a slip of the tongue. He made a massive moral judgment that shows what a hypocrite he is.

I bet if you asked McCain how many states there are he would give you the right answer. So would my 9 and 6 year olds.

I would say not knowing how many states there are in this country is worse than not knowing the difference between Sunnis and Shiites.

That depends on the context. Not knowing the number of states might be embarresing. Not knowing the difference between muslim sects could lead to people dying.

It could? How? Is McCain going to go over there and start shooting the wrong people? Or do you think he has advisers that give him advice about what should be done?

Not knowing how many states there are. Holy shit, he should have learned that in 1st grade and he wants to be President???

Oh please.

Obama knows how many states there are, McCain think it's ok to ignore our own actions while condemning Russia for doing the same thing.

Well, how about launching a war in a country where there are large quantities of both without understanding the community dynamics involved?

Then, after your war started and you toppled the regime, you were left completely unprepared to deal with the consequences of the power vacuum as both factions struggle for dominance, leading to sectarian violence and ethnic cleansing on both sides.

But hey, that could never happen. Right?
