Who do you think will be Obama's VP?

Lets get a poll going to see who you guys think will be the likely pick.

Not who you want to see, but who you think is going to be the pick.

I personally now think it's going to be Sam Nunn.. the word is that Clark hasn't been vetted and wont be attending the convention.. and Obama's comment at that "faith forum" make me think he's propping Nunn up, getting his name back out there for people who might not have heard him

He's also been involved in that Nunn-Lugar legislation and group designed to reduce nuclear proliferation, something he mentioned in his Berlin speech.. and I think it's unlikely Obama will pick someone as VP that people don't think would be a credible President should something happen to him.

So, who do you think, and why?

I'm sticking with the formula that seems to have been used successfully in the past. You need to have atleast one "southerner" on the ticket. Kaine is a pretty popular governor in VA. I dunno. His name seems to always come up.

I think him too. A lot of people are talking about him and he's been a pretty well known backer of Obama. It will definitely help turn VA blue.

I have no clue - I haven't heard of most of those people. But I agree with Lou. they will try to "balance" the ticket. A southerner or a conservative Democratic from the beltway ought to do the trick.

The Obama team, in the run-up to the Democratic convention, will showcase the new Obama ticket Saturday in Springfield at the Old State Capitol, where presumptive Democratic nominee Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) officially kicked off his campaign in February, 2007.

State of Illinois authorities have beens asked permission by Obama folks to reserve the historic spot at noon. This does not mean that this is the time and place where Obama announces his running mate; that could happen any time from Wednesday morning on. Obama's time frame is shrinking, so the announcement is coming soon. The new vice presidential contender will jump on the road with Obama to showcase the new partnership. Springfield is a leg on the Obama roots tour.

I'm sticking with Kathleen Sebelius, I think after all this talk. In the end, he'll choose the running mate he was most comfortable with from the beginning. Then I think John McCain can breath a sign of relief and go with Tim Pawlenty to shore up the abortion subject.

Biden's trip to Georgia seems to have boosted his standing in light of the goings on in that region..

I'm still hoping that Obama will surprise us all. I don't see how he can pick someone who has:

a) spent their life in Washington while campaigning on "Change" from the old style politics, partisanship, and so forth..
b) voted for the Iraq war, when the idea that his judgment to be against it from the start is what qualified him over Hillary..

..and still have much credibility as a candidate, honestly.

I'm going to guess Kaine as well. Apparently Obama has said it will be someone from the executive branch, so it looks like that would strike Biden from the list. Also, Obama's recently been using the "he" pronoun when discussing his VP, and I just have a feeling he wouldn't be doing that if he had decided upon a woman. I would be happy with Sebelius, and hope it would be Wes Clark. Richardson would be a forward looking choice, but I doubt it will be him. I don't think it will be Hillary, but a convincing case could be made for putting her on the ticket by looking at the numbers.

Obama will pick whoever will help him win. Hillary is really the only choice that would guarantee solid dem support. But then that would also mean Hillary would literally be a "heartbeat away" from the presidency, and knowing what we know about the Clintons, that could make POTUS a more dangerous job than alaskan snow crab fishing for Hussein Obama.

So who do you think it's going to be?

I'll be VERY surprised if it's Clinton.. there's really no chance it's going to be, I think.. I mean, Bill Clinton is perceived (true or not) as being too loose of a cannon.. Obama is going to need excellent message discipline in this election, and having someone like Wild Bill out there yodeling on about this or that with Hillary having a big role isn't a good thing for Obama.
