Obama says Clintons are fully on board

Barack Obama said Monday that both Hillary Rodham Clinton and her husband, the former president, "couldn't have been more clear" in their support for his candidacy.

Speaking to reporters after a campaign visit to Iowa, Obama said it was understandable that after the drawn-out primary contest some of Clinton's supporters would be slow to come his way. But he said this week's Democratic convention would help produce the party unity needed to bring victory in November.

The Democratic hopeful refused to say how seriously he'd considered Clinton as a potential vice presidential contender.

As for his speech, Obama said to expect something more "workmanlike" than his soaring address at the 2004 Democratic convention.
