and as President you have to prioritize your attention and how you spend you spend your time. There will be times when you have to delegate authority to subordinates important tasks when major issues present themselves, that is the nature of the job, but most importantly you will need to attend to the most important issues of the day.

This is by far the most important issue since the response to 9/11, I think Sarah Palin, Rudy, Mitt and the crowd can cover campagining until a solution is resolved.

We're talking about going to Washington to discuss an issue and make a vote....then attending a debate. He's supposed to be trained to multitask. He's supposed to be the best man for the job. He's supposed to have all this fucking experience and he can only do one thing at a time? Michael Phelps could have also focused on a single event and kept it "easy" for himself...but he didn't. I expect people that claim they're ready to be the President of the United States to have the ability to multitask. You can't just drop everything else going on in the world in order to handle a single event. What's he going to do during a hurricane? Shut down the Federal Government until the hurricane passes?

Then you talk about "delegating" and he didn't even do that. He suspended the campaign. He didn't "delegate" to Palin. Wonder why? Maybe because she's an idiot who even he doesn't trust to do a simple thing?

No, they can't apparently since his campaign is suspended.

so you are ok with only 1 day of debate before passing a 700 billion dollar bail out? Now I get why democrats agreed to the Patriot Act without actually reading it.

This even is much more important than a debate.

No, they can't apparently since his campaign is suspended.
When an event is large enough, like this is then 100% of focus is necessary.

The financial crisis will not be solved this week or even next month. I don't think it will be solved this year. Should we cancel the election? This is a meaningless political ploy to make it look like he's done something. He's done nothing...nor can HE do anything. It takes the entire Congress to do it. He either votes yes or no. You can't just stop the universe because something is broken. It has revealed TWO more weaknesses of McCain. Inability to delegate and inability to multitask.

So if Russia invaded Poland tomorrow we drop fixing the economy for beating the Russians?

so you are saying that McCain has no power in Congress? Because I can point to real life examples where that is not true.

So if Russia invaded Poland tomorrow we drop fixing the economy for beating the Russians?
that would depend on the situation.

Which is why people told him to stay away? He was also the one calling them to try and get himself involved.

Are you expected to do more than one thing in your job? I certainly am and I believe most people are. If we weren't able to multitask, we'd be fired. McCain should be held to AT LEAST that standard. He's pathetic and this failed attempt to revive his campaign is just another example of it.

you are misunderstanding the weight of the current situation but I have stated it several times. I could repeat it again but you would just disagree, so whatever, we will let the American people decide.

Former Republican congressman Mickey Edwards on the subject.

Oh, brother. What idiot came up with this stunt?

It ranks somewhere on the stupidity scale between plain silly and numbingly desperate. McCain and Obama are both members of the senate and they're both able to help craft a solution if they wish to do so without putting the presidential campaign on hold; after all, I’m sure congressional leaders would be willing to accept their calls if they have some important insights to impart. And while one of them will eventually become president, neither one is president yet, nor is either one a member of the congressional leadership; I’m confident that somehow the administration and the other 533 members of congress will be able to muddle through without tapping into the superior wisdom and intellect of their nominees. Sorry, john; it really sounds like you're afraid to debate. This sounds like the sort of ploy we used to use in junior high school elections.

Weak.

We all know that what is best for this country is for us to keep going out of this nightmare.

Your candidate is afraid of Obama. If he were winning, he would want Obama to show up on Friday.

But he isn't winning anymore.

Quite the opportunist candidate you have there, I wonder what kind of opportunities he's going to exploit in office?

That was one of the more entertaining episodes of Letterman I've seen. He shit on McCain for a good 30 minutes.
