My Way News - Iraq Is 'Cause Celebre' for Extremists

So apparently Dems jumped on a leak regarding Iraq 'breeding terrorism', but now Bush is countering by declassifying the report to show them that they were 'naive' in their limited assessment of the report. This suggests that Bush is confident that the report in no way suggests such a thing. It'll be interesting to see what the report really says, and if the Dems were jumping the gun again.

They wanted the closed session to discuss what would be classified and what wouldn't.. so we wouldn't get an extremely sanitized (for political reasons of course) version of the report, which is essentially what's being released.

The full report is 30 pages. The "Key Findings" are 9 pages. This release is 4 pages of that 9 pages. The fact that this is the best they could find to release after sanitization is telling.

This is also noteable for what it doesn't say. It doesn't say "The invasion of Iraq has made America more secure." as Bush claimed. It doesn't say "Removing Saddam from power was instrumental in reducing terrorism around the globe"

And, this isn't the most recent NIE. There are calls for the other one to be released as welll.. which is apparently at least as, if not even more brutal.

And it changes the contexts of the attacks the democrats have laid out over the weekend.

I find it hilarious they're ok with the portions of the report being released that hurt the president but then all of the sudden want "closed session" when it comes to releasing more of the report.

Seems like typical political shit IMO.

With all of that credible evidence you've provided to suggest they only wanted to release the bad parts, I think you've managed to convince me!

Pelosi said she wanted a responsible declassification, I have no reason to doubt they'd be willing to work in a bi-partisan fashion to determine what should be released, and what should be kept private for national security reasons.

Of course it changes (although only slightly) the 'context' of the attacks, because they've selectively released the information that makes them look the best, rather than releasing all of the facts, or hell, even all of the key findings.

But, nope!

They want RESPONSIBLE declassification when it benefits them. Where was the condemnation of the leak? It didn't exist...why? the answer is obvious.

Maybe because letting the America people see the truth about what's going on rather than only being privy to selective information that doesn't paint what's going on in its true light benefits the country?

I'd think so.

This release was uber sanitized.. 4 pages of the 9 "key findings", of the 30 of the entire report. So, 4/30.

The other pages were supposedly methods they used to do the study. I supposed there are things they don't want terrorists to know in there.

I'd prefer to get an accurate portrayal of the information, without being subjected to political sanitization.. from either side. I want the information, whatever that might be.

In other words, you want classified information, despite the fact that is likely has classified methods used to gather that data; ones that we likely don't want terrorists knowing.
