Midweek Politics with David Pakman - 10.01.2008

A new story entry has been added:

Midweek Politics with David Pakman - 10.01.2008

This Week on Midweek Politics with David Pakman

Produced by:
David Pakman, WXOJ, Northampton, MA
Louis Motamedi, WXOJ, Northampton, M

Total Running Time: 59:40

This Week's Topics:

--Jesse Adams and Shawn Robinson from Young Democrats of America join us live in studio.

--John McCain insisted all of last week on canceling the debate because of the financial crisis, but did ultimately show up and debate in Mississippi, while Barack Obama insisted that the financial crisis was an important reason to still have the debate.

--Debate problems, including Obama being too nuanced for his own good, McCain getting visibly upset with Obama, and Jim Lehrer begging the two candidates to talk to each other.

--Some of John McCain's debate answers, including his analogy about earmarks as a gateway drug, creating a League of Democracies, and the random spending freeze suggestion.

--Some of Barack Obama's longwinded answers during the debate.

--A few other Republican Senators' comments about the economic crisis and proposed bailout.

--Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi blame the Republicans and are blamed by the Republicans for the original bailout bill not passing.

--The two Sarah Palin interviews with Katie Couric, including her hilarious non-answers about McCain's accomplishments, Alaska being close to Russia, and which newspapers she reads.

--John McCain had to sit next to Palin for the second interview with Katie Couric, and Palin is bewildered at basic questions about global warming and the morning after pill. Lastly, McCain and Palin have a weird definition of gotcha journalistm.

--Palin makes fun of Joe Biden's age, although McCain is even older.

--The controversy over the upcoming Vice-Presidential debate starts with moderator Gwen Ifill's book about African American politicians including Barack Obama.

--A bizarre clip of a deep south woman going off about Barack Obama.

--Much more...
