| Blai's speech was rather disjointed and meaningless.. there was no focus on what the problem or problems really are.. the attempt to simplify the issue as good vs evil has fallen through and there is no simple arguments left for him to use. he talks of terrorism as thou it was a singular self directed entity rather than a property/behaviour. its just a list of caveats to a unstated argument... where is the beef? the impression I get is policy has become rudderless.. as the division in opinion on the issue has been sought as a political weapon "your soft on terrorism etc" but this divide is major stumbling block in advancing any policy on what to do... no one has a clue what to do the "choices are hard" bit is not a good point ... commitment to this course or that course of action removes flexibility therefore rushing a decision in the face of GLOBAL discord on the issue assumes that discord is not a factor in solving global issues.. ie you can demonstrate the wisdom of your action without "their" help.. well thats a gigantic mistake of strategic proportions irrespective of the merits of ones cause. Especially in a perception based struggle such as terrorism he even points out that people will approbate any grievance that they can for their own ends.. thou its clear he is doing the same thing... the "shape" of terrorism in geographic terms is the only thing flexible I can see in current policy making... all of a sudden bits of africa the lebanon etc are shoe horned into the mix.. the policy of "GLOBAL WAR" is fraught with mission creep of apocalyptic proportions.. the only way to keep afloat is to further complicate/expand the issue and make problems for your self in a environment of discord operating both internally and externally to national, super national and NGO entities its so open ended its cuts though layers of scale from foreign policy to race relations.. creating the mechanisms for isolating bits of the issue are becoming increasingly impossible its bit like borrowing money to get out of debt its a gigantic f**king train wreck Boris london Last edited by mididoctors; 09-29-2006 at 01:37 AM.. | ||||
