| One thing that I have always wondered about is candidates who put forth millions of their own dollars to campaign for a job that pay very little in comparison. For example in Nebraska a guy by the name of Pete Ricketts (R) (whose father owns Ameritrade) has spent nearly 5 million of his own dollars to run against registered democrat (but voted with bush 80% of the time) Ben Nelson. To my knowledge a senate job only pays like 150k a year. Why spent 5 million+ of your own money to get a job that pays 150k a year? I mean some would say "well i just want to help the state". I am thinking local donations and foundations would be able to help tons of people across the entire state with the amount that is financing Ricketts and Nelson's campaigns. From what i understand Ned Lemont is doing the same thing. To me, it just doesn't add up. It is like "what is in it for you?" I just dont buy the whole "but i am doing it to help state and country" line. | ||||
