What does this have to do with Racism?

I've also heard reports of people vandalizing McCain/Palin signs/bumper stickers by writing KKK across them.

Well, I'll tell you why I equate racism, because I didn't at first. But I mentioned this to a friend about how I don't recall anyone ever setting fires in ppl's yards over politics before, and she says, but ppl have been setting fires in ppl yards over politics for a long time. nobody ever burned Kerry's signs, or Clinton's signs or Bush's signs in ppl yards in past years. What do ppl burn in yards though,.and why? I mean, there are ppl out there who really just can't handle the fact that Obama is black, they'd rather lie and say he's an Arab, so they can express their hate aloud, like they are in that video I posted.

yes.

edit: excuse me, if its done in the legal and proper way when retiring a worn out or tattered one, no. But offensively burning a symbol of someone else's heritage, yes that is racist to the core.

I understand how it's unpatriotic, deplorable and stupid. But not racist. What does flag bunring have to do with race?

So you don't consider yourself part of the American race?

Nope, american is not a "race". It's a nationality but not a race. But if you want to consider flag burning a racist act then that's your peragative.

their is only one real race though, the human race. All the other stuff is just around to divide us.

False choice...

Flag burning is a completely different kettle of fish. It is meant as a protest to American government, rather than a focused attack on a single candidate or his supporters.

(I hate to be an english nazi, but *prerogative)

What defines race? Color of one's skin?

So all Europeans are the same race? How about middle-easterners? They have a roughly sandy color to their skin. Isn't calling somebody a dirty wetback a racist remark? Isn't that only in relation to mexicans? How are these two ideals mutually exclusive?

Divide us? Like... calling a certain candidate an Arab? Alluding to him being a terrorist, or terrorist sympathizer? Or calling out his plan as being socialistic, or at least with tinges of socialism? That kind of division?

Burning flag = protesting government
Burning political sign = destruction of personal property, possible reckless endangerment (without a motor vehicle), and conjures up images of racial intolerance.

So when hippies in San Francisco burn the American flag during their protest parades they are doing it because they hate blacks? Wow, all these years I thought it was because they hated the Government.

I would say that the only thing about this story that conjurs the raciscm analysis, would be the symbolism of fire on a front lawn, which in some areas of America, was the primary way for attention to issues at hand. People leave all sorts of things on the American lawn, as a way make a point, in a passive aggressive way.

The idea of anything burning on a law in the South, had a meaning. And that meaning has still not gone away, it's even used in satire.

But, we have no idea what kind of person did it. And until that person does come out and says why, then we can't assign truth to the metaphorical incident of a political sign burning on a lawn. It could have been torched for alot of reasons besides his race.

Republican HQ Manager's Home Shot Up Over McCain Signs - Politics News Story - WKMG Orlando
GOP HQ Manager's home was shot up by some Obama supporters. Can we insinuate a racist act through this? Or how about the fact that he claims to have "taken about 300 calls concerning stolen or vandalized McCain signs in the area."

As Wonderland said, you can't assign race as a motive to this. Doing so is jumping to conclusions. Vandalism over political issues like this happens every election year. Obama supporters have to stop pulling the race card everytime he's treated like everyone else. It's not helping him.
