| But the courses sound soooo awesome! It's gonna add another 3 years to my school, but in the end, hopefully I'll have my M.A. in English Literature, and my M.F.A. in Creative Writing... Dual Master for the win! | ||||

| Well, my ultimate goal is to be an actual paid writer... I have some starts of some novels, some ideas, some poems I've been working on...some short stories...I'd love to be able to get published...and actually be successful. I'm not talking like, Ann Rice success, I'm talking more like, Ginsberg, Sexton, Vonnegut successful. I want people to read what I write and be like, whoa. But, I have to be able to pay bills and have to support my family. I was initially just going to get my B.A. but in California, I'd only be able to teach up to High School with that, and I'm not about to go through credentialing here because it's horseshit and takes too long. So I figured I could do a dual Masters, and teach Community College level, and even so part time, make plenty of money (they start here part time at about $40K) and be able to work on getting published while doing so.. So yeah, that's the dream I'm workin for... | ||||

| Um.....only works in progress... This is a Sestina I started working on about a year ago...it needs more polishing though... On top of a black roof top, high up in the sky, I look down to the bottom, I ask my reasons why? And I wonder if I jump, How long will it take? It’s a long way down. They always put me down. While I prayed to the sky, Each word with little pride, they take, And then wonder why I sink to the bottom. So I sit here, waiting to jump. And going through all of the reasons why. When he hated me, did I ever ask why? Not if I wanted to be up then down, With whatever request my action to jump, Jump as high as he wanted, hitting the sky, But eventually, I would be bottomed. And it would be more than I could take. When she would kindly gather her take, There was never a reason to ask “why?” Because when you are low, at this bottom, There is no farther down. She used to have goals to the sky, But, it was motherhood that made her jump. How high am I supposed to jump? Is everyone pleased with what they take From me? The limit is the sky. Whenever the requests would come, I would never ask my WHY? So thinking of the pain, and looking down, I can see the bottom of my fate. I realized everyone has their bottom. Everyone has already jumped. And they all know, it’s a long way down, And on the way down, it’s what they take. God intended it this way, but why? Why do we fall so far from the sky? When your life has you down, and you want to jump, Know that you already have taken your step to the bottom. Never look to the sky, and ask it “Why?” So um...there's your sample...not my best, but I didn't want to post some uber long short story... | ||||
