| update: Ok, this was probably the best metal show I've been to. Unbeknownst to me, we had pit tickets; yes, the mosh pit. While I'm too old for that shit, it's always nice to watch and see the bands up close. Here's the rundown: Overkill was very impressive, especially for the first band. Not too many people in the crowd, but they definitely lit the place up. Very good show indeed, although I'm not a huge fan of the music. Arch Enemy; I've seen these 'guys' several times now, and it freaks me out everytime I do. Great musicians though. Check out their lead singer: http://www.siatec.net/archenemy/medi...avenous.vc.zip ![]() She's basically a hot German chick that sounds like a hot German chick when she speaks, but sings (or growls) like a dude. Freaks the hell outta me every time. Opeth is a great Death Metal band from Sweden with a very humorous lead singer. Thoroughly enjoyed their show. Here's where the shit gets crazy. Lamb of God was fucking insane. There is no other way to describe it. A bunch of rednecks from Virginia are now the new Pantera. I've never seen a crowd get this aggressive in my life. I've been to plenty of Ozzfests etc in my day (sadly never any Pantera shows) and these guys put on a show exactly as I would think Pantera would be. If you ever get a chance to see them, do it. Basically there were about 150 or so people in the pit, limited for safety reasons. The security guards started coming out before Lamb of God cause they had 'heard' that it was gonna get crazy. I knew it would too, but never expected this. These guys erupted. The security guards were holding back the metal barriers from the rest of the fans; the fans started rocking the barrier. More guards came in and tried to push them all back. Within about 5 min all the guards at the same time just ran off, and the barriers came down. Essentially about 1000 fans in the immediate area just bum-rushed the stage, and the whole fucking place was a huge pit. Amazing, I've never seen anything like it. The closest thing to a riot I've ever been in. It was like that for the entire Lamb of God show. I still can't get the tingly feelings out of my bones when I think about it. Watch that Arch Enemy video I posted above, and understand that that is a girl singing that shit. A hot one too... | ||||

| Oh yeah, and Megadeth, of course, is Megadeth...gods of metal. They played their new song (new album coming out in January). Being the political musicians they are, they named the album United AbomiNations (they obviously aren't happy with the UN), and the song they played was 'Washington is Next'. It's causing quite a stir... | ||||

| I saw Gigantour in Atlanta last year. The lineup was better than it looks this year. I think I can wait to see Megadeth until their next album tour. | ||||

| Metallica still put on the best shows I've ever seen, hands down. Godsmack was surprisingly awesome live as well. I'd kill to have seen Johnny Cash back in the day though. | ||||

| I saw Metallica (with Godsmack opening) in November of '04... Great show. Better than Summer Sanitarium 2003 by far. Linkin Park & Limp Bizkit just ruined that concert, imo. | ||||

| I saw Metallica on the same tour Publius did. Missed most of Godsmack, saw only about 4 songs, but they rocked pretty righteously. Metallica fucking kicked ass, I downloaded all the .flacs of the concert from their website, they recorded almost every concert on that tour and stuck the files up on their website. The shit James says in between songs isn't as good anymore now that he's sober though. All he used to talk about was drinking and all he does now is crack really lame jokes. | ||||

I have seen every show in La, including when they opened the Summer Sanitarium with Metallica, LB, and LP. LP suck, I could have just listened to their CD instead of standing there watching them on stage, it really was no different. | ||||

| Yeah, I saw that tour too, and I was pissed because I thought mars Volta sucked. Badly. It was like, one huge long song, like they are attempting some psychedelic rock thing, but it just doesn't work for me. | ||||
