none of this has any bearing on whether or not ignoring the fisa court helps in the fight on terror.. having to get warrants retroactively is not the reason we couldn't act on information about 9/11

Even if that were true, how does that give the government permission to ignore the law.

They do have a duty, but they are bound by law in how they fufill it.
